I think 2020 class will be voided. I see another kid in that unit leaving. Does Hobert end up at Arizona?
If he ends up at UW or UA, my interest in D1 CFB will diminish further
Eventually there will be adjustments. One adjustment has to be made...players have the right to transfer, they just can't follow a coach from one d1 school to another. Caleb Williams, transfer to Georgia, Wisconsin, Ole Miss....you just can't go to Sc with Riley.

If you don’t wanna be here, don’t be. Kids get 4 years to play. If their first choice ain’t the place, cool. Find the place that is. I have no issues with it.
What I have issue with is kids that stay and ruin it for the other kids. If WSU isn’t the place for you, move on. Lots of cool places to go play ball. Go find a spot.

That doesn’t bother me. Caleb has no idea what will happen at OU. He knows what he gets with SC. With a limited career of 4 seasons, why invest in the unknown? Why remove opportunity from a player? It’s his education and career. He should be in control of it.
Don’t call them student athletes and then limit their education in any way.

Considering DeLaura retweeted the portal announcement I imagine he is heading south....this is the main concern with the Portal/NIL I have. Opens up a huge door for coaches to recruit current players on rosters.
It’s tampering. Anyone can contact anybody on another team and make their pitch to lure them into the portal.
Cut the roster to 70. Manufacture value simply having a scholarship. Don’t let teams use NIL to run their numbers up. Make kids think twice about walking away from a free education.
I suspect this has more to do with the difference in offensive philosophy between Dickert and Rolo. The offense went from an air it out attack to being much more balanced for the remaining games. Now Morris is incorporating a TE which takes one IWR off the field for those plays.
Fighting for a timeshare at a position that isn't even going to be one the field a decent % of the plays, in an offense that is committed to running the ball can't be as appealing of an offense as either Leach's Air Raid or Stutzman's play calling in the R&S. Hobert proved he belongs at the P5 level last year and it's not surprising that he is looking for a better fit.

Hobart was a solid player, hard nosed competitor, like his Dad, sure there was the loan issue, but his Dad was a competitor. You never like to see people leave your program, but if he isn't happy, he's not helping the team. There maybe more impacts to JDL leaving, other than just JDL leaving. Rumors are there maybe more. The portal will be an issue, it takes and gives, the key is to create an environment that players want to be a part of, so they don't leave. And that is up to the coaches, difficult with a new staff, hopefully they create that environment.
Yea and no. I believe he was a Leach recruit originally but Leach was going to rotate 8 WRs. Not sure Morris’s philosophy on rotation but with a TE there won’t be as many reps available for the WRs.
My guess is Stribbling is next. The offensive side of the ball seemed to have bonded more with Rolo and JDL than the school … which is fine . Billy Newman said it best- buy in or leave . If an attempt to keep you in class and keep you on the field somehow bothers you(read as mandate) then they should go where they are happy.
I think some of wideouts should know that this offense is actually going to allow them to put up some huge numbers based on the number of plays they run and how many pass attempts come. Stribbling seems like he could put up huge numbers here.
I'm also curious if the CougRaid using TEs more as a slot guy. Is that where Hobart would fit in this system? If so, maybe the opportunity somewhere else is a better fit for his skills.
Not ill-will from my perspective. You have a short shelf life at this level. Might as well go where you can play and succeed.

If I were a WR I am looking for a chance to be featured and get targets and catches. The air raid distributing the ball amongst so many players doesnt do it.
Im going to assume that the staff is looking for more TEs. Unless the 1 kid they signed is going to get all the reps.
I've watched a lot of Ward highlights and there were a lot more 10 personnel schemes/groupings than 11 personnel. Just because a Tight End is being utilized its not like we are becoming Stanford.
Why would Stribling leave? He is pretty much the heir apparent to the #1 WR position following the loss of CJ Jr and T. Harris.
I think 3 tight ends on the roster would be sufficient. I still think we are going to land a JC TE. Morris is no dummy though. He will be flexible and run personnel groupings based on what position groups are the strongest.
Stribling is set for a breakout season for the Cougs. I hope he realizes that and gets to work!

Morris TE production at IWU was pretty minimal.

I’d be curious to see how many actual snaps these guys got & the ratio to catches from those snap

Start out with one HS TE, one good walk-on and Edson before he gets much bigger. How many times was an HB/TE (sounds more like blocking H back) on the field?
I wouldn't move Edson, he is getting serious playing time and even started a few games at Edge.

Been saying this for a while…. His TE film is better than his DE film.
I screwed that one up. Yes, Justin. If the HB/TE is in there for a lot of plays, yet only catching 22 passes a year....why not someone who can do well in blocking and likes contact. Edson's film from high school was very good. He's pretty nasty.
Don't know why Biggs remembered that part of film when we weren't even thinking TE's for years.
I'm going to miss Hobert. I liked how he played.
But can someone explain the timing on this to me? Isn't he going to want to be on a team (and enrolled in school) for spring practice? Spring practice will be his best chance at learning a new offense, becoming familiar with the QB, and earn a spot on the depth chart.
It’s a bad decision. He missed 2 signing days, he misses all spring ball, he has not put himself in the best position for success. Unless he wants to walk on somewhere and go right now. Maybe he can slide in somewhere???
Who knows Why do any of them leave? Doesn’t seem to be all that much rhyme or reason to it anymore.
