I had to Google them to find out WTF they even are. 12 miles North of Chicago. How is that "Northwestern"??

Nothwestern is considered one of the best universities in the world, up there with Stanford and Duke as far as schools that play in big-time football conferences.

Maybe the school was founded even before the Pacific Northwest region was separated into states?

I manage a work team and it’s not easy. People are way sensitive and you have to speak to them gentle. I’m a very direct guy but I’m learning to be gentle with this new generation of people.

I am reminded of a time a few years back when I was playing pool with my buddy...and his friend was talking smack and generally being annoying.

Without missing a beat, my friend said "I thought I kindly asked you to shut the fu*ck up."

It was great. That might have to be your new template in dealing with the sensitive.

Perhaps some tough love treatment would be better for them in the long run, rather than them just insisting on being coddled their entire life?

Pick the lowest performer and make an example of them. No coddling, give expectations and when they don’t meet them, kick them to the curb. Force everyone to grow thicker skin.

I believe I heard a couple of days ago there's some risk for the project now. Lots of people (probably faculty, etc.) feeling there's a culture issue (institution & athletic department).

The bigger potential issue discussed was whether a major donor decides to pull out of the project. I believe the donors are Patrick and Shirley Ryan who gave $480M to NW. I don't know how much of that was targeted for the the stadium project, but apparently the Ryan's were not happy Fitzgerald was fired.

Gawd I went to the NWestern link below. The FB field is Ryan Field, the Basketball arena is Welsh-Ryan, and the fieldhouse is the Ryan fieldhouse. Some serious money going into that place.

No because they will call HR and cry foul. So that no tears are wasted we write up them up and get their commitments in writing. This is what it has now become. We have to protect our jobs.
