Very good article w/ new details not public.
1. They had a UCLA deal that could have kept them here if we would have given them more cash. Oregon said no.
2. On the $30M getting nixed, one of the schools, through it's professor, felt they could get $50M.
3. They had a linear deal on the table that got pulled when CU jumped.
4. The Apple deal could have had some linear components but was shut down due to UW/Oregon bailing to the Big-10.

All in all, I question how much information CU was giving the Big-12. Feels like this deal got sabotaged on many levels.

The Pac-12 went from the elite football conference, beating the Big 10 like a redheaded stepchild, winning 16 of 18 Rose Bowl match ups between 1970 and 1987, forcing the SEC to, gulp, integrate to try to keep up, having the most players in the NFL, to hands down the worst of the power 5 conferences in a generation. The Pac-12 was leaderless, rudderless for quite some time, and it remained that way until the very last day as this report confirms. People want to blame Larry Scott, but he was merely a symptom of the underlying lack of leadership. When you hire the CEO of women tennis to be commissioner in the first place, you just don't have a clue. When you then retain the guy, giving him a big raise, and a promotion thereafter like Elson Floyd et al did in 2013, knowing that you have been sold a snake oil TV deal, you have committed conference suicide. To quote our former esteemed president:

"On behalf of the entire Pac-12 Board of Directors, we are delighted to announce a contract extension with Larry and the new title of Pac-12 Commissioner and Executive Chairman of Pac-12 Enterprises,” said Dr. Elson S. Floyd, President of Washington State University and Chair of the Pac-12 CEO Group. “Larry’s leadership and vision is critical as we realize our tremendous potential as a Conference built on a firm foundation of academic excellence and superior athletic achievement. Pac-12 Enterprises will continue to provide exposure to our athletic programs, student-athletes in all sports, and world-renowned academic programs, as well as deliver long-term financial value for our institutions to help fulfill our core academic missions.”

... and you think Sgt. Schulz in an idiot.

Buffalo crap has no honor, but after the $C duplicity and deliberate sabotage, and UCLA's unwillingness to be anything other than $C's little brother, it is no surprise. The deal was clearly submarined. We may never know who got paid off.
