Leach hospitalized

I’m sure this will draw some some nasty politically motivated responses from the bad humans on here, but I am praying for coach Leach. This is a very serious situation from what I’ve heard. 🙏

why? Do we know this is CV-19 related,
has that been confirmed?

There had been talk of pneumonia, past couple weeks.

On other Rivals sites/ boards, updated word tonight is a possible heart attack, at least it is heart related.

No word how connected to the previous pneumonia he had experienced.
They say this is very serious, as in very, very bad.
Ts snd Ps coach

Well not sure how one would make it political but if someone does it is their shortcoming.

Leach always has lived like tomorrow is not guaranteed . And I hope he recovers and has that outlook for a long long time .

Earlier we were hearing heart attack on the MSU boards, but now it sounds like this was a stroke.
It sounds real bad.

Say a prayer for The Pirate.

Rumors spreading that he has passed which I obviously cannot conform. Will be incredibly sad if so.

Not a lot of hard information out there so far, which seems somehow appropriate given the way he handles injury reports. Everything is rumor now - stroke or massive heart attack - and there’s a thread on an MSU premium board with the rumor that he’s died. No confirmation of anything so far.

There seem to be a few people reading into the situation because he was transported to a hospital in Jackson - possibly by helicopter - but that doesn’t necessarily mean a lot. It’s 120+ miles, so a helicopter transport wouldn’t be that unusual. For heart attack or stroke, if surgery was required, the UM hospital is likely better equipped, so also doesn’t necessarily indicate severity.

More concerning to me are posts from one of the MSU beat writers (Leach needs a miracle) and from rival coaches and ADs. Less concerning is the fact that even Feldman has nothing.

We’ll see soon.

Edit: FWIW, Dana Holgorson posted just minutes ago, his message seemed to indicate a serious situation but did not indicate that he’s passed.

Trey Wallace (who I’ve never heard of, but is apparently the SEC beat writer for Outkick) has a statement from Lane Kiffin which refers to Leach in the past tense. Not the best sign.

That's what Lane Kiffin had to say.

edit: Trey Wallace has since taken down that tweet containing Kiffin's words.

Just came to say it was taken down. Wallace said it was leading to “confusion,” which I guess implies he’s still hanging on.

I can’t see the content, but the Ole Miss board is also saying he’s passed….but so far there’s no news source (of good or bad reputation) confirming that.

A comment on Reddit of a person who has friends at UMC who also works at the medical center Leach was life flighted said Leach is on life support and has already had to be revived once. If this is to be believed it’s very dire and incredibly sad. Was rumored to have been stepping down soon after signing day due to health.

Yeah let’s not everyone…the political BS people had to bring up on the UI thread was bad enough.

Meh. Too questionable a link to information to put much stock in it. Might turn out to be true, but it’s just internet rumor.

I don’t know that I buy the idea that he was going to step down after signing day either. I think if he’d decided to go, he’d go.

If true, that employee should be fired immediately for violating the Leach family’s medical privacy

This is very sad. Prayers for Leach.

Having went thru a stroke myself, altho not as bad, it's pretty standard to either ambulance or lifeflight most to almost all stroke victims, to the nearest stroke, heart center.

Time is CRITICAL. And the quicker they get you there, there is a better chance you not only survive, but recover better from stroke, with as much motor function as possible.

The longer it takes, there greater chance of paralyzation, motor function being impaired, etc.

Usually most usually don't die from strokes.

So to be in serious risk of dying from the stroke, it's a pretty bad stroke. And even if survives, he could be paralyzed, have no motor function, etc.

I hope he not only survives, but that he is still able to do things.

My stroke wasn't a bad one, and it took 15 minutes to sign my name, and I couldn't even eat my breakfast cereal, and my speech was so slurred, I thought I sounded Drunk.

And Leach's might probably, may be worse.

I hope it's not, that he survives, and is still able to do things.

Praying for Leach.

I just read on Brand X that they have him stabilized but the family will have decisions to make on Monday which can mean a lot of things. The only thing I can say is stay positive and keep up the prayers for Leach and his family.

I saw that . It could mean a ton of things , but having a heart attack and if oxygen wasn’t getting pumped to the brain he could be in a coma or damage has been done and that is what is meant by they have decisions to make .

That would also connect why people have said a miracle is needed. And I hope I am wrong and his inner cowboy pulls him through.

But it was true and that is why certain people blew a gasket over the comment.
People - “Grow up”
Instigators - “my political commentary on every thread is 100% facts, why are you blowing a gasket!?”
People - “cool story bro…again…grow up”

The article that just came out doesn't sound good. He was unattended to for 10-15 minutes, had a seizure and might have brain damage. They used the word "dire". I don't like any of that language. It's a really said situation for his family and everybody close to him. I know he wasn't everybody's cup of tea, but he could build a program and from tweets I've seen and stories I heard, Mike Leach has impacted many, many people in a positive way.

Also, that article at the same time was piss poor talking about his history with Tech. Anybody that knows Mike Leach, knows his history, no need to go over history with the man is fighting for his life.

I saw a similar article. If it’s accurate, it’s only a question of time.

The report that he was defibrillated and took "multiple shocks to restore normal heart rhythm" indicates his heart was not beating effectively, which means not moving blood and oxygen effectively. If that lasted 10-15 minutes, a positive outcome is not in the cards. The brain does not tolerate that much time without oxygen. If accurate, his heart may still be beating, but everything that made him Mike Leach is already gone.

Maybe the reports are wrong, or exaggerated. But that does not seem to be likely.

I hope you are wrong but from what has been written sadly I think you are correct. And you are spot on … what made Mike Leach Mike leach was his ability to love to learn, his curiosity for life and was able to live that to his fullest. And communicate what he learned and had yet to learn .

The latest from MSU:

Not much info, other than confirming he's critical.

I read CPs post to say - keep the political BS out of this thread which I 100% agree with. Not sure why that would set you off?
If noting the bizarreness of someone walking into a room and farting while announcing that no one better fart in the room where people are solemnly expressing concern over someone’s well being makes me “set off” then one can only conclude that you are struggling to suppress a fart of your own.

What a shame. Love him or not, Mike Leach is a legend in the college football world, and was an invaluable part of WSU's football resurgence.

This is heartbreaking to follow.

There was a rumor that he might be stepping down after signing day due to a heart issue.

Tragic all around.
