My being pissed at him for selling out on WSU is somewhat hypocritical because I wasn't a full believer in him while he was with us.

I might be wrong on this, but I like Mateer at WSU better than Ward.

But now the question is regarding Cam Ward in the big picture of College Studs and NFL futures.

I'm thinking he cant cut it in the NFL because his decisions are delayed and he's got the horrible choices when panicking.

Go.

I don’t care.

He’s a kid doing his thing the best way he knows how.

He took advantage of a system in disruption and got paid. He’ll get drafted. After that?

I get that you don't care, but unless you have zero interest in the NFL (I'm almost there) it's reasonable to have an outlook for a player you know.

Don’t really feel the need to discuss him, any more than I would discuss any other player who left for another school. In his case, it was for the money, but he still left.

He has proven repeatedly that he’s prone to poor decision-making, in spite of significant experience. That tendency is a lot worse when he’s getting pressure.

He’s effective when he has good protection and a solid run game.

Most projections have him in the top 3 QBs in this draft, and going in the top 2-3 picks. The Raiders and Giants seem to be the leading guesses on where he goes. He won’t have a good OL or run game at either of those - or at any other team picking in the top 5. He’ll be expected to be the star and savior, but won’t have a supporting cast and will turn into what we saw in 2023 - an indecisive scrambler who forces throws into places he shouldn’t.

Honestly, I think the best thing for him would be to have a bad combine, or something that makes him fall down draft boards. If he can land somewhere where he’s not forced into the starting role immediately, and where there is some quality on the offense, he could develop into a decent QB. If he has to be the guy from day 1, he’s in trouble.

I don’t see either of these happening, but I think his ideal scenarios are teams who have a starter picking him as the future starter. Baltimore and Detroit are both places that could be a good situation for him. The Bucs, Rams, possibly the Saints or Dolphins could be OK. Of those, the Rams are the only ones I can really see even considering taking a QB in the first round.

I agree he’s a slightly bigger version of Jonny Manziel. Those sports center highlights he made in college will turn into more turnovers in the NFL. He is too careless with the football. He will be forced in early wherever he goes because of the talent and potential and it will be a disaster.

He should sit behind a QB like Russell Wilson for 2 years. That type of situation won't happen and he'll be flung into a situation where he won't be as successful.

Cam Ward earned his degree at WSU. John Mateer used us to leverage more NIL and is leaving without a WSU degree.

That's what I think.

The best thing for Ward would be getting drafted in the first round regardless of the situation for the guaranteed contract.

Tankathon has Ward as #2 overall. Last year, that was Jayden Daniel’s and a guaranteed contract of almost $38,000,000

Geno Smith is 13 years in and is basically Cam Ward.

If he doesn't get wrecked by injuries due to being expected to single-handedly save a team who usually doesn't have an OL (see Washington), he'll be around for a long time.

Shit man, I just saw Sam Howell come out and prove how shallow the talent pool in the NFL is at qb.
