Did I mention that I HATE TIMMY!!GU with 10 points in 10+ minutes?
This kind of game is about runs. Crazy start but it's early.
They are lucky... Baylor hasn’t even played well. Deficit should be 20GU goes on a run to "close" to 12. Baylor looks like they need halftime even though GU is down double digits.
They are lucky... Baylor hasn’t even played well. Deficit should be 20
Agree Baylor should be up more but "should be" doesn't matter. It was 29-10 w/ 10 to go in the half. It's definitely still a game. They are lucky... Baylor hasn’t even played well. Deficit should be 20
Definitely still a game.. I know most novices will focus on how many shots we make.. IE 7/12.. Those who have coached, know to focus on the shots we get..!!Agree Baylor should be up more but "should be" doesn't matter. It was 29-10 w/ 10 to go in the half. It's definitely still a game.
I love how you miss quote me to support your point. I said they weren’t playing well... Meaning they had tons of missed opportunities.. If they were taking advantage of those opportunities they would have been up 20 which was my point.. In other words they out played Gonzaga by more then the points they were up..Not sure what that has to do with anything. Your assertion that baylor is playing poorly is just wrong. Not sure how a team shooting well, rebounding well, and passing well is playing bad. The only thing bad thing is getting in foul trouble.
I don’t even say they played poorly... hahaha Exactly what I said came true.. To the trained eye it was clear in the first half that Baylor has many missed opportunities and was still up ten. The second half was further example of what I was saying..Sorry for the misquote of playing poorly instead of not playing well haha huge difference. You said zero about missed opportunities but ok.
WSU coaching families and more important Pullman residents have been NCAA men's hoops champions the last 3 years.FYI Homer Drew, Scott Drew’s father was an assistant at WSU in 1972😀😀
You still misquoted me..lol.. I said the didnt play well.. huge difference..I don’t even say they played poorly... hahaha Exactly what I said came true.. Ok let me clarify for the uniformed.. Usually when you shoot 7/12 from 3 turn the other team over 8 times and completely dominate them on the defensive end you expect to be up more then 10 points. That doesn’t even include having the other teams second best player “Suggs”, on the bench for the majority of the half while your best player is in double digits.. Didnt think I needed to spell it out, but there you go..Cool story. You literally said they hadn't played well and should be up 20. Just because you think a team should be up more doesn't mean they weren't playing well. You didn't offer any other details about what they weren't doing well or what you meant by that.

Given those facts Baylor did not take advantage of opportunities.. HAPPY?
I'm not in Spokane to have to deal with Zag arrogance, so I kind of wanted them to win. Not at all upset that a non-blueblood team out of Waco won though; happy for them. And I know that Baylor was probably the better team all year, so not to take anything away from them. But...
Any time one of these unexpected routs or upsets happen, there is some huge 3pt magic. The average 3pt percentage league-wide is about 38% (Baylor 41%), and Baylor hit - I believe - their first SEVEN, CONSECUTIVELY.
Statistically, the chances of this happening are about 0.19% for Baylor (~1 in 500) and 0.11% for an ordinary NCAA team (~1 in 1,000). Going by their own record, Baylor should have netted 8-9 points over that time but instead netted 21 points, allowing them to put the Zags in a moon-crater-sized hole early and forcing them off their transition scoring game.
Baylor came back down to earth near half, but this kind of magic reminds me of Manny Ramirez opening Super Bowl XLVIII by sailing the snap over Peyton's head into the EZ for a safety as the first play from scrimmage: Seattle came out like savages AND made them pay for every mistake. Hard to see a route to victory for Gonzaga (or Denver, then) but there is an element of getting to the big game, being punished by the gods, and just having to say, "are you f--ing kidding me with this?"

That whole situation is weird. Baylor is weird.I have a hard time rooting for Baylor as a university. Although, Scott Drew seems like a good dude.
GU got punched in the mouth and couldn't respond. Kispert was cold and Suggs was the only player on GU that could match up with Baylor athletically. As soon as Suggs picked up foul No. 2 four minutes in, I more or less figured the game was over.
Not that anyone here needs to be told this, but I think they approach sports a little differently in the south. Especially football, but basketball seems to be enjoying a new focus down there as well. The fact that one or more of Baylor, Tech, UT, and now a handful in the SEC are now perennial contenders says something. That whole situation is weird. Baylor is weird.
They have a murder scandal and then hire "some dood" and keep him for 23 years? Who keeps a coach that long, let alone one that took what... 10 years to get the program in the black? I mean, good for them for sticking it out but its definitely the exception and not the rule any more.
And then you have the football team/ coaches... what's in the water in Waco?
I don't know. Sure it's nice to have a great start, but basketball seems built around going on runs, and usually each team will have them. Baylor came out hot on a run, and Gonzaga finished the half with a strong run and were only down 9. Baylor easily looked like the better team in the first half. The second half was a little more even than the first, but again, Baylor just flat out looked like the better team. They played better defense and were much more athletic which gave Gonzaga fits on both ends. They easily won the rebounding, Turnover margin, steals, blocks - the hustle categories.
Baylor finished the night making 10-23 3's, 43%. So nothing special, and would have been bad had they not had a hot start, run in the game.

When I moved to Austin now many years ago one of the last thing my Mom told me before I hit the road was "to just stay away from Waco". I didn't go out of my way but I guess that was good advice?Spent an afternoon in Waco a couple years back. Wife wanted to see Chip and Joanna’s silos/Magnolia thing so drove up from Austin
Remarkably unimpressed with the entirety of it all. Nice football stadium but that was it. Just a total m’eh town.
Must be some big alums funneling cash because nothing screamed destination in that place.
Anybody else read these last two posts real quickly and see "Winco" instead of "Waco"?When I moved to Austin now many years ago one of the last thing my Mom told me before I hit the road was "to just stay away from Waco". I didn't go out of my way but I guess that was good advice?
