Why do you guys continue to do this on here? Do you expect to hit that golden zinger comment that changes everyone's position on COVID? I realize you're probably younger than me, and yes, I used to rage debate like this back in the day, but take it from me. It's part of the problem, not part of the solution.

I had an amicable back and forth with Krusty and Ed on another thread. No insults, just debate. I don't mind that, especially when its informational - maybe someone is truly ignorant of a fact (myself included) and learns something or gains appreciation of another's opinion.
Then you have the known trolls who only exist on this board to troll, and for some reason they are allowed to continue to post here. THAT is what is killing this board right now.

He’s (like me) a traditionist I’m assuming. I like college football for the tradition, history, comraderie, pageantry and all the other aspects of team sports a lot of us remember fondly. Transfer portal, NIL, opt out is really going to change a really cool sport and not for the better in my opinion. Coaches get paid way to much as well by the way.
Of course, its how most of the trolls work, by creating a binary proposition where there isn't one, nor was there implied one.

I think we all know that they get payment for their services. They didn't choose WSU out of the goodness of their heart. They felt like this school offered them the best opportunity to extend their football careers while having no college debt. This agreement was for the year and the year isn't complete. What I don't understand is what was their goal at the beginning of the year? Just to use this year as a stepping stone to get into the NFL or did they agree with any of the team goals, which i am guessing was more along the lines of win as many games as possible to get to the Rose Bowl or best bowl they could get to and not national championship. Either way they are gone and doing what seems to be the new trend. Not good for the sport, but hey if coaches get too leave...

I think if it was an arrest we would have seen news on it already. If it was covid, especially with the new guidance, there'd still be hope to get him in town before the game...unless he's actually sick. If he was, then his roomate(s) would be out too, assuming he lives with other players. Might also take out others in his position group.
He did have an ankle injury earlier in the season, he might be out for that. Also might be angling for his own combine or training camp invite. Or might be resting the ankle hoping for his own combine/camp invite.
Regardless, I'd feel a lot better with either Borghi or McIntosh on the field. Watson and Bazil haven't showed enough to justify much confidence.
The problem is, it's almost EVERY thread. Pleasant discourse or not, it just makes it difficult for the rest of us who just want to read and discuss Cougar football.
The deeper problem is, Scott doesn't have the want-to and/or time to police this place. Moderation of the board is minimal, at best.
I resolve to not discussing or being baited to discuss covid outside of if it directly affects our football program.
Discussing and moderating i.e. eliminating threads, etc are two different things, in my opinion.

Sorry for my part in this. I generally don’t engage in useless debate here and ignore most of it when I can. Didn’t expect my old curmudgeon remark to elicit that type of response and ate the bait.
I, for one, am happy under the circumstances to have what amounts to a 2022 pre-season game. Even if we have another O system installed next season, we will at least get to see the key group for next year working together. And when it comes to the O line in particular, you can never have too much time working together. So I'm looking forward to watching Nakia behind next year's O line. I may even hoist a fermented beverage or two during the game! 🍷🍷 Go Cougs!
And to add that we are guaranteed a winning season regardless of outcome. That's all I have to say about that!
Well we get a preview of what next year's backfield will look like. Watson, Bazil, and then who is next, a change of pace with Katzer? who knows. A few starters on the OL gone, so a new look there. A chance for people that have been waiting a while to prove themselves, let's hope they show us something.
I appreciate that. I don't mind the COVID conversation. If it could be confined to 1 thread though, that would be great.
It permeates everything right now. Even our "escape" of sports is being affected severely by covid.
