Mateer looked solid

With the backups in
No hesitation on his reads, good vision, good execution. His TD throw was right on target. He found where the D was out of position and took advantage.

I didn’t get a good look and see if Stanford also had their 2’s in, but he was still running things well. I hope he gets more chances in the next couple weeks.

You can usually tell when a kid has it. Doesn't take a lot of film even if it is against the 2's. I think the kid has it. Smooth in his execution.

Kind of reminds me of Mckenzie Milton...that dude that was at UCF

I'll say that Mateer looked as good as any backup that I've seen in a while. Cam is obviously "the guy" right now but I feel better than I did before this game.
We're gonna have a hard time retaining Mateer. We need to consider offering him NIL money now. Ward is back next season and Mateer's transfer phone will ring. Preserve his redshirt and tell him the job is his when Ward graduates. Pay him now.

Mateer looked good, but lets not put too much stock into this game in the 4th quarter. Stanford was down to their JV team, the score was 45-14 at that time in the 4th quarter. while I an not suggesting Stanford gave up, human nature suggests they weren't giving 110% effort. I was pleased with what Mateer brought to the game, looked good, as did Schlenbaker, but it is in the 4th quarter of a blow out.

His phone will ring off the hook based on three series?

Second, if Morris has an eye to get this kid he will find another

WSU better spending money on DT, DE, and OT.
