Smith had better get the system installed in a hurry. Tough field for us.
Agreed. This past year's schedule was ridiculously weak and certainly didn't prepare the team to compete even in a soft Pac-12 conference. Even with that OOC schedule, Kent could only produce 11 wins. That team had a good chance of winning 11 before conference play started but underachieved. I'm okay with 4-5 challenging non-conference games each year. This tournament is a step in the right direction.Field may be tough, and probably cause losses, but if I was in Smith's situation, I would use such a schedule to show examples of good defense, to teach, to toughen up.
Such a schedule might result in losses, but will toughen up the team, hopefully lead to future payoffs, either in this season, or next season.
Plus this helps in recruiting. Players might want to come to WSU to play against, beat better teams, not just beat up crappy teams.
