MBK Final: Utah 74, Cougs 70 (Story + Stats + Pac-12 Net Recap)

Not much for moral victories but considering what happened last time this was a good effort. One scary thing is we have 17 points from this game back next year and they have 60 points.

Good effort, competed, but we can't make nearly enough good open looks. When Clifford fouled out we couldn't get enough key rebounds and lost the low post. Great effort in a tough place to play but just didn't have the weapons to take this one.

It was a good effort by " the worst coach in the league leading a team with only one D 1 player" on the roster.Amazing what heart and effort can do to a team,

Also, I found it shocking how much better our offensive flow is with Flynn on the floor. Seemed like no off the ball movement when he is out for any length of time. This kid is good on so many levels, even when he isnt shooting it well.

The question is whether we can build enough talent around Flynn to expect more than feeling good about not getting blown off the floor. Flynn obviously can't do it alone. Hopefully we can pick up a few more in the spring that can get on the floor early.

I believe that all of the close games as well as the wins against"bottom feeders" will help in recruiting. The cougs are after some good HS and juco players and i hope they land a couple of these quality players.

Remember the old Dick Bennett adage about learning to lose before you can win. I Like the young guys on this team. Who knows. I think they will be fun to watch. I know I am tired of hearing guys talk about unwatchable hoops. 81 29 was pretty unwatchable during the Bennett era, but it was worth it a couple of years later.
