Meltdown in Seattle

Well than you are ignorant or an idiot.

UW scoring defense rank #8
Total defense #12

This year hmm.

Offense? Scoring #88
Total #63

Pretty clear which unit is carrying you this season.

But to show you the drop. Last year with Smith?

Offense scoring
Total offense #58
Scoring offense...#17

After 1 year with a coordinator change and the same veteran QB you guys dropped 70 spots in scoring offense. SEVENTY.

How far do you think you drop without Kwiatkowski? Let’s say it’s half. Let’s say you drop 35 slots on scoring defense if he leaves.

That would put you at #43 or about 23.4 basically about where Colorado’s defense is.

That’s if the drop off is half what it was after you lost Smith.

Spend less time on here and more time begging to up Kwiatkowski’s salary because if he goes...you will not be a serious threat to anybody.

I’m just one of those ignorant people who doesn’t QUITE think you’re able to be objective about any of this.

Lake is essential too, but Kwiatkowski is the foundation. He leaves and everything collapses. That’s why he shared responsibility to keep Lake. They both are important but Lake isn’t the glue. Kwiatkowski is the glue.

Mark this down. Tron and I agree here.

Lake is a ladder climber - he'll bail soon for a head job or an SEC-type coordinator gig. The UW defense has regressed this season immensely since he took over the DC title. Kwit is the brains of the operation and he's been relegated a bit this year.

Wait! It’s almost like you’re suggesting the UW has an assistant coach who aspires to be a head coach. Crazy world!

Pretty soon you’ll be claiming people change jobs for higher salaries.

We saw what happened when the job climber opted for a higher salary. Bye Alex Grinch, hello much better, consistent defense with the old warhorse Tracy Claeys.

Jimmy Lake is your Alex Grinch. If that.

So you don’t REALLY agree with Tron at all. Apparently the Husky defense will get better when we lose our coaches. That’s your experience, right?

Only if you lose Kwit. He's the brains.

Jimmy Lake is the pretty face.

Kwit has no aspiration to be a head coach. He is very comfortable as a DC, especially with his buddy Peterson. Bama and everyone is after Lake for good reason. He is prob the top secondary coach in the country. Boise State's and Montana State's D was above average under Kwit, but its Lake's secondary that has made them elite. Lake learned his teaching of technique of press coverage under Monte Kiffin when he coached at tampa bay (which of course is very similar to Carroll).

It is easy to underestimate how helpful for recruiting being from BSU or any other similarly low academic requirement place can be. Peterson benefitted a lot from being able to accept good athletes that a PAC school could not have admitted. You have to admit that he has had recruiting classes at UW that the recruiting gurus thought were great...yet they don't seem to be up to the Sark level when it comes to actual field performance. Draw your own conclusions, if there is enough evidence to fully support a conclusion. Personally, I think we probably need at least one and probably two more years before we can assess Peterson's recruiting. At this point it does not impress, but next year when all those guys finish their eligibility he will have a chance to show that he can reload instead of rebuild. We'll see how he does with that.

Jimmy Lake is more important than Kwit. He is an ace recruiter and there secondary has been the strength of their team since he's been there. I was surprised when Pete hired Hamdan. He is not a good OC. Way over his head. Browning and Falk are very similar in a lot of ways. Exceptional WRs masked their deficiencies. When the top talent was gone they really look average. When John Ross and Dante Pettis are your receivers its pretty easy to look good.
More like Browning and Alex Brink.

Petersen has been unbelievably loyal to Browning and has awoke to it too late. (Doba and Rosie never did). Never had to fight for job after Fr year.

Attrition to NFL, injuries, and probably off the field stuff going on that they'll leak out later (academics?, weed?).

Petersen will be fine. Best coach UW has ever had. He's not choking Rose Bowls berths to Jim Walden.

Some really bad coaching errors in their last two losses though

UW loses 11 Senior starters, 6 Offense and 6 Defense. Not to mention the Juniors that leave early. That’s going to be a hell of a rebuild year next year. We’ll see how Chris gets the team ready. They have a lot riding on the kid that lost his job at Georgia, Jake Eason.

Pretty sure the mutts will roll Furd. Tough losses for both teams last week but the game is in Seattle. Mutt players are most likely pissed and I'm not sure if Furd is over the last minute loss to the Fighting Mustaches.

Huskies are adrift without a sail OR a rudder. No way they beat the trees this weekend, especially if Love is still healthy.

I didn't know he WAS healthy? I thought that last series against us he came up lame...again.
At any rate, you may be right but Petersen has had a way of bouncing back over the years with his teams. Whether or not he has the kids this year to do that is up in the year. But I wouldn't be surprised to see them come out ready to play.

He may have gotten injured again; I was too busy hand wringing to notice.

Love is going to be gimpy for the remainder of the season, at least.

Not sure what Gaskin's status is.

UW after this week is basically in cruise mode, bye week and then Oregon State. WSU will play 3 teams that all will probably be Bowl Eligible in that same span.

Not a great set up.

3 of 4 at home..... haven’t lost since 2016. I like our chances. Especially if Stanford takes care of business against a stunned UW.

I heard on another forum that UW is expecting to have Gaskin, Bryant, and Adams all back vs. Stanford. We'll see, but if so, those are big boosts, especially with Love having limped off the field in the last series of our game.

You can get two decent seats together for this game on-line for less than $28 total. It would still be a waste of money.

Adams hasn't played all season if I remember correctly.

During what is left of the regular season, I think Adams may get just enough snaps to let the NFL know he is still ambulatory.

I thought he had season ending back surgery. I guess we'll see. Seems like a bad idea to play, for him and uw.
