I guess there are no good players in California available. I mean, why go out and work when you can just recruit the FCS kids you were already recruiting???

This is lazy recruiting. The talent is in Southern California. At some point you have to go to LA and get in front of kids and build relationships. In LA. You cannot just sign a bunch of FCS kids from the Midwest and call it good.

It is a bit concerning to say the least. Hopefully there are some gems in the portal with little or no film, which they land. At this point I am underwhelmed, I hope this staff proves me wrong. But this recruiting takes me back to 2005.

Throwaway recruiting year. Actually surprised he was able to flip that many SDSU kids this late in the game.

Next year will be when the rubber hits the road.

This is HowlingTurd stuff.

For a lot of programs, the coaching development cycle is now shortened. Kids didnt usually make all 4-5 yrs at WSU before the portal. Now it’s 1-2 yrs and gone. You have to get them up to speed as fast as possible to get any return on the investment at all.

I wouldnt be surprised if you saw more programs walk away from HS kids altogether. Why invest in the first 2 yrs when they leave? Let someone else coach them and then pick them up for the final 2 yrs.

Essentially do to others what has been done to WSU.

But if you are gonna recruit HS kids to WSU…. you are either in LA or you are failing. The West Coast talent base is in Southern Cal. Going to the Midwest or Texas is punting on building relationships, building a brand and building a recruiting base on the West Coast. Texas and Midwest recruiting is waving the white flag on SoCal.

I was wondering where he was going with “Pullman is the Midwest” in his intro. Nothing you can do but take a wait and see approach but Theres going to need to be boots on the ground in Cali and the Islands no question. The Dakotas might fill in some cracks but that can’t be your foundation.

A better point to argue with this would be to see the numbers...

Take the D1 teams West of the Rockies and look at each team's Rosters over the last 30 years.

Where have the kids come from on the winning teams?

For a more direct/fair comparison

I feel sorry for SDSU. We have now what - 15 portal transfers, and about 10 (or more?) SDSU HS commits that flipped to WSU. Not to mention almost all of the coaching staff. Thanks for the loyalty coach. Wonder how they feel about Rogers these days back in Brookings, SD?

And time will tell how many of the SD, etc. guys will look at a map and say shit, Mom and Dad can't come watch me. I can't run home whenever I want. What have I done?!

And I notice that the official WSU FB site still shows a bunch of now-former coaches on staff, and not many of these new coaches. Including the Poly coaches. Wonder what's up with that?

I'm giving Rogers a 1-year recruiting pass. He's riding with the coaches and kids he's most familiar with, and next season we play largely a mid-G5 schedule. Beyond this year, he'll obviously need to recruit at a higher level, but I'm not sure how attainable that was this late in the game.

I will say that it's refreshing to see the value he's placing on linemen.

Ummm....are the kids 2026 kids or 25 kids? How many 2025 kids in Cali do you think are available? These kids are available because there was a coaching change. The rest of these kids are signed elsewhere.

If he doesn't go into Cali next year and have 80% of his class from Cali, there will be a problem. The midwest kids will be like the TExas kids and flee back home the minute they can.

No direct flights from PUW to Bismarck?

Bismarck? You mean the campus location in Brookings, SD? Or our new hotbed for signees, Sioux Falls, SD 57 miles via the interstate from Brookings? Sorry Mom, can't make Sunday dinner this week/month/semester. Tell Blossom I miss her.

Hope these Midwest portal kids got enrolled. WSU doesn't have dog and goat killing, sheep (insert your own disgusting word(s)), corn shucking or noodling in our academic offerings.

If you’re hired late in the process, the FIRST thing you need is a team of players to conduct spring practice.

Hasn't even had a practice yet and you're already complaining. What a surprise.

No need to disparage the kids coming from the Mid West, I am sure they have a good work ethic and will fill the roster. I welcome them and happy they have come in to help out. Just hope they maximize their talent and build a winning culture.

We already knew Anna was smoking hot, but to read that she is a Led Zeppelin fan seals the deal for me. Oh except her sniper husband might get in the way of our romance.

And I'm fine with these Midwest kids. Although if read one more quote from any of them about how great they are and how they came to WSU to compete for a Natty (that goes for CJR as well) I might throw up.
