More Idaho murder crap

Kohberger is assumed innocent until proven guilty. This is a death penalty case which means both sides have to make sure they do everything correctly. The guy's life is literally on the line.

The prosecution has to make sure they follow the letter of the law exactly, because you know if K is found guilty there will be appeals filed by the defense and heaven forbid the verdict be overturned because of a technicality.

As much as everyone here was hoping for a swift trial we knew this was coming.
Agree 100%. I’ve refrained from labeling him guilty for just that reason. Our legal system isn’t perfect but it’s better than most. That said it’s fair to speculate. Sure seams it would take a lot longer to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt than prove you’re not guilty. It should be pretty clear one way or the other, and IF he did it they certainly found DNA evidence in the car, his apartment, etc. If they don’t have that, I would have doubt that it was him. Think gonna be pretty cut and dry and my money is on them having abundant DNA evidence and for the defense to try and spin up an OJ defense in desperation (bad cops, tainted evidence, hoping the surviving roommates aren’t credible, etc)

They have 100% smoking gun DNA. I’d gladly be on the firing squad for this piece of garbage.

Much as I respect our justice system in general, I do have some affinity for those middle eastern, wherever countries. You are a thief, cut your hand off. You are a murderer or rapist; cut your head off. But no, here in the US those people sit on death row for 20 years on our dime. Why? I know there have been a few wrongly convicted people that have been freed, but Gawd does is take 20 years to figure it out?

F-ing lawyers. That is the root problem. Oh lets just drag this out forever so I can make more money.

His attorneys filed a motion for dismissal today.
Dismissal of the grand jury indictment, not the case.

They’re going to file every motion they can think of to drag this out…and probably one at a time. It’s partially a delay strategy because they don’t have a defense, it’s partially to wear down the prosecution and hope for a better deal (which there’s a chance could happen if they can make it costly enough), and partially to let the story fade a bit before it can get to a jury.

But again, I say…innocent people don’t voluntarily stay in jail.

Don’t blame the lawyers. They are a symptom just like 80 year old 10 term greedy politicians are a symptom of our F’d up political system.

I haven't followed super closely, but I thought his bail was denied? I'm not sure it is voluntary.
He was denied bail. I think some of the posters are saying that because he's delaying the trial he must be guilty, because if you were innocent you would want the trial asap. At least that's my interpretation of what they're saying - sorry if I got that wrong.
