Cougars have offered 2020 players PG Santiago Vescovi, 6-2 and SG Ben Mathurin 6-5 also SF Carlos Rosario, 6-7.

They have offered 2021 PF Deiman Reyes 6-9.

Most of these are South American's from a recent tournament.

Thanks for the updates 7I. A lot of these players are high quality and I don't have a sense of how realistic some of them are, but I love the energy and effort by Smith & staff to reach out to so many players in such a short time. It's almost hard to keep up!

Glad Cougar

Around the world in eighty days. I think that they better land one of theses guys or they may be accused of taking a nice expensive vacation. Or perhaps i am wrong and the Tournament was in the USA ? I am sure that they do not have Motels 6 over there.

Looking at college rosters, it is pretty clear that over seas has been a fertile recruiting ground for schools not able to get in the living room of multiple 4 and 5 star domestic players. Time will tell, but I see this as positive focus of recruiting for us. Certainly more likely to be succesful than bringing on multiple quick fix JC players every year.

it is possible but many big colleges are mining overseas and we will see if the quality players will commit to WSU. or the cougs may end up with a lot of 2 star recruits from overseas.

"A 6-foot-2 lead guard, Vescovi impresses with his feel for the game, ability to play at different speeds, his creativity with the ball and his shot making.

Vescovi, a native of Uruguay, is starting to garner more interest from college programs.
...
247Sports policy is to refrain from ranking foreign prospects until they opt for a college in the United States, but if Vescovi was in the U.S. he would be regarded as a four-star prospect and a top 10 point guard in the 2020 class." --- Evan Daniels 247Sports

NBA Global Academy in Atlanta this past weekend, which welcomed more than 150 college coaches to the event Miami, Washington State, Rutgers and Temple and now Maryland offered the crafty 6-foot-2, 175-pound lead guard after he led the NBA Global Academy to a 6-0 record and a championship

Not to be a nitpicking ninny, but South America would be "down there", not "over there". And it would also not be considered "overseas". Just sayin'. :p

1,2 JC transfers a year or every other year, an or 1,2, transfers with 3 years to play 2,3 years, every year, every other year, and 1,2 grad transfers once every 2,3 years is ok in limited moderation.

WSU will always need quality transfers to fill holes from time to time once in a while.

Good WSU coaches have done that in past. And good mid majors and P5 colleges like K state have successfully done that.

But even tho thats successful, either dont want to have too many transfers, an or dont want bad quality transfers.

Also need enough freshman, so cant neglect freshman for transfers.

But also shouldnt neglect, not get transfers to fill holes, in order to get freshman.

There has to, should be balance, quality, moderation in, about this.

Slew of offers the last few days and Vescovi sounds like a good one. Thanks for the info!

If, since 247 sports thinks he would be a 4 star(since they and other recruiting services dont rank overseas prospects), and since he is getting a lot of quality offers, and since Smith thinks he is good, then he is either a good one, or should be a good one.

So great thing that Smith is getting in on, at, with, these overseas players early, and that he is offering so many quality players early.

Its just a matter of time, numbers game, before he Smith, gets one of these quality, 3,4,5 stars, overseas players, etc, eventually.

I like the article posted on recruiting on the other board. I can just see the scotch taped bracelets of coug coaches. Or perhaps they go big time recruiting and waste a lot of good money on recruits they have no chance at?

There were a few "waste" of time recruits with Kent. Blake Hinson who ultimately picked Ole Miss for instance. I still think it's good to get 4*s to visit. Other players notice and might take contact more seriously and you never know if a player connects on their visit and commits. Also, with the huge uptick in the amount of players transferring you might get that "big time" recruit the second time around. You just hope it's not players like Chance Moore who are bound for 3, 4, or 5 stops during their college careers.

I'm not sure it was ever understood why you are so pissed about Kent getting fired and Smith getting hired. And I am very glad EK is gone, simply because I always thought he was a scuz ('Ole) and never should have been hired. But that's just me. Otherwise I really don't care all that much except I want us to win. Then it gets fun.

So just share - what is it? EK needed more time, you sell Armani suits, Your name is Jordan? Or you think Chun is an idiot? (I'm not his biggest fan, but I'm warming up).

ElC's a troll (IMO) and collectively we give him exactly what trolls desire. Attention.

An Australian (NBA Global Academy at the Australian Institute of Sport) PG/SG Josh Giddey (2021) was offered. Also picked up offers from CU, St. John's, TCU, and Utah.

Sounds just like the type of player that Coach Smith is always after. Can play 1-2 or 3. Late growth spurt is always interesting.

He will get a lot more interest. Like Véscovi, analysts are saying he would evaluate to a 4-star if he decides to come to the states for college.

Just offered 2020 PG Clark Slajchert (Oak Park CA). His brother Wes is a sophomore guard at Dartmouth.
