New QB transfer

Originally went to Boise State and redshirted, I think. Transferred to Ventura JC and then 2 years at Weber State before entering the portal. Rolo must've indicated he would have a great chance at playing time in Pullman. Not sure if it's a case of you can't have enough QB talent or nobody on the current roster has emerged as "the guy".

Think he was hurt at BSU so spent a year at JC before being a 2 year starter at Weber State, leading them to be back to back conference champions. Looks like a walk-on. Stats seemed ok, but a 2-1 touchdown to int ratio if I remember right.

Not only did he play at Weber St, he led them to the FCS semifinals last year. He's also a two time Big Sky champ. Signed with Towson before deciding to walk on here. Looks like the Colonial canceling things led to his departure.

He throws a pretty ball with decent touch. Didn't post eye popping stats. He's a good option if Cooper or Cruz aren't ready to go. Reduces the chances of a disaster season caused by incompetent QB play.

I heard through back channels last year both Cooper and Cruz had a long way to go. Now they are being asked to pick up a new offense without spring ball. I've been nervous QB struggles could stall an offense with plenty of great weapons.

The best thing for a young QB?????

Max Borghi.

I think it has more to do with having 4 quarterbacks and someone with 3 years starting experience. He should gain a scholarship to pay for his last year. Perfect for both sides.

From the film I've seen, he is a solid guy who can take a hit, or lower his shoulder rather than slide and dish out a hit. I'm not suggesting it is the best idea, particularly at a P5 level, but his film shows him doing it a few times. He sort of runs like a tight end.

Move the chains, loosen up the defense, make the linebackers play like linebackers and not safeties, force a 4th DL onto the field... a QB that can run can really loosen up the back 7 for his WRs.

This signing suggests to me that Rolo has questions regarding Cooper and Cruz.

I mean, he's a walk on with game experience. We aren't risking anything by taking him and he is a decent stop gap should Cruz and Cooper not be ready. But even with a lot of experience in the room, you always take depth when it won't cost you a scholarship. Same thing with Peyton Powell at DB.

It sure would've been nice if Cooper had been given at least a few snaps of game experience last year, particularly when there were several games in which Gordon really didn't need to be on the field. But, of course, maybe Cooper had not done enough in practice to warrant playing time or moving up the depth chart. I'm hoping Rolo won't be as reluctant as Leach was to bring in the backups as the game allows.

The scholarship QBs are a RS sophomore, a RS freshman and a true freshman. It makes sense to bring in a grad transfer or JC.

With no spring ball and no film, I don’t know how any of these guys could be evaluated. I guess he could look at practice film from last year.

This is shaping up to be a brutal season. The 1st two games vs. Utah and Oregon should be fun.
