New recruit

Here are some additional measurables on this kid.

4.47 40
10.79 100M
39.7” Vertical
6'2 / 190lbs

I'm not ready to anoint this kid as the steal of the class, but these aren't Wulff measurables either.

I really liked him as a running QB. The film is so far away you can’t see much as a thrower though.

Wulff measurables went something like this: 4.9 40, 12 flat 100 m on a good day, 31" vertical and doesn't lift weights because his classmates told him that doing squats will make your balls explode.

Good discussion. Just echoing many others in this thread. It doesn't seem fair to criticize Dickert for recruiting shortcomings right now. If he gets the full time job and hasn't made progress over the next year in the quality of recruit he's getting, that's a different matter. Right now, I suspect he's concentrating on the team he has with the understanding that he won't even get a chance to recruit if the team doesn't finish strong. Totally agree that he hasn't established a lot of west coast connections yet, but if he's able to hire assistants who do have those connections, there's no reason to believe he can't be a successful recruiter.

This is why brand name matters. If kids don’t even know who you are and have been in the recruiting process for 2-3 years already… you aren't getting into the conversation. It’s over.

During the bye week, there were more coaches each in Florida, Texas, and even Washington than there were recruiting in California.

Everybody knows that Dickert, is going to struggle recruiting, and that thats NOT on Dickert Per Se.

No one has a problem with Dickert getting the kind of kid he got, IF IF IF he got that kid from So Cal, Texas, FL, Chicago, Hawai, Samoa, INSTEAD of E WA, Idaho.

Dickert SHOULD NOT be getting these type of kids from E WA, Idaho from some rural PODUNK farm.

Instead he SHOULD be going to So Cal, to get this type of kid.

Kids in So Cal, and in the SEC, are better then E WA, Idaho kids. A 2,3 star in So Cal, that only SJSU, SDSU, Fresno St, etc, want, that would goto WSU, that WSU, Dickert can easily get, as LOW hanging fruit, is BETTER then the 2, 3 star kids from E WA, Idaho.

Dickert said that he was going to Focus on WA, E WA, Idaho, apparently even if that means offering QUESTIONABLE kids from WA, Idaho. He did that under Rolo, for last 1,2 years, he is doing that now, and he might probably do that in future.

At least thats what he said he was going to do, and so far he is wrongly doing that.

He needs to stop doing that, and go pick the low hanging fruit, 2, 2.5 star recruits in So Cal, that are athletic, raw, late bloomers, have upside, that only SJSU, SDSU, Fresno St, etc, wants.

Its THE WHERE HE IS GOING thats the problem, not the not getting 3.5 star kids.

I must have missed his quote stating that he was going to focus on WA, E Wa, and Idaho, even if it means offering questionable kids.

There certainly is a lot of consternation (or is it constipation?) over the fact that FOUR of the ELEVEN commitments so far are from the State of Washington. (none from Idaho, by the way).

Correct. We had s corner who started like 3 years that was 5’9 and ran like a 4.8 40. Let’s pump the brakes on the Wulff comps. I’ve also seen both guys speak in front of the media and Its not hard to imagine Dickert being in a different league than Wulff when it comes to selling the program to recruits, parents, and coaches. Things will change once he’s announced if that’s our direction. He’s handicapped right now along with his staff.
