How does the new rule work? Can you play in games at any point in the season, or throughout the season?

If we get some mop-up snaps in the remaining games, would the rules allow us to play Cruz? There’s little upside to playing Tinsley or Gubrud at this point. And, frankly, if Cooper couldn’t break into the competition this year I don’t have a lot of confidence that he will pan out. So I’m curious to see what he looks like under fire, and at game speed.

Leach favors upperclassmen at qb by such a margin that I wouldn't make any assumptions about Cooper. 5th year seniors usually are his starters other than Graham Harrel.

As long as you play in no more than four games, your redshirt is intact.

Letting someone else lower on the depth chart get those snaps is a slap in the face to everyone else.
