So, with today's game done, there are only 3 teams in the Pac-12 who control their own destiny: Oregon, Utah, and WSU.

Utah has a pretty firm grip on the south. They already own the tiebreaker against ASU and UCLA, which are the only other teams that have a shot.
Utah finishes at arizona, and then at home with Oregon and colorado. They have to drop 2 to not win the south. I don't see that happening.
ASU finishes at UW, at OSU, and Arizona in Tempe

Winner of our game next week takes the lead in the north. The beaver and huskies are still in the hunt mathematically. UW is out if Oregon beats us. Beaver fans are in a tough spot next week - its better for them if we lose, but that means rooting for the ducks.

Ducks finish with us, at utah, and OSU in eugene.
We have the ducks, arizona, and at UW
Beavs have Stanford and Arizona state at home, then go to the ducks
Huskies have Arizona state at home, go to colorado, then us at home.

Bottom line, its good to root for the state schools the rest of the way. ASU and OSU can both help us out, but if we just win we could still see our 3rd Rose Bowl.

Good to control our own destiny. Leach had that a couple times at the end of the season and we couldn’t get it done. Would be really something if interim head coach Dickert could do it.

By the way, we’ve been to four Rose Bowls already. You may be forgetting 1916 and 1931. We’re 1-2 and one game still has two seconds left on the clock.

I think you misread his post. He said “see” our third Rose Bowl. There isn’t anyone on this board that watched the Cougs in that 1931 Rose Bowl.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt to remember the earlier ones too.

Just win baby. 3 very winnable games against 2 undisciplined horribly coached teams and one shitty one. Well UW is probably both if we are being honest.

Lake is doing exactly what I thought he’d do and more. He sucks. How does the uw keep him? As soon as you know your coach isn't the guy, you fire him, imo. What else does the uw need to see?

Well the head slap is back in football but it used to come from a Defensive End who typically had a club hand. Lake is using it on his players.

UW needs to sign Lake to a long term deal.
In fact, just give him coaching tenure. (;-)

I was thinking this way. I remember the first two, but assumed nobody here had seen them.

Where I also miscalculated was in assuming everyone here saw “our” other 2. It’s entirely possible we have posters who were not born yet…and even more possible they weren’t old enough to travel or choose the TV channel by Jan 1, 2003.

And, for those of you who - like me - just realized that fact, that little OMG moment is my gift to you today.

True. I guess I read it differently. I took the sentence to indicate the school, not us as individuals.

My concern now is how we prepare for Oregon. This will really be the first game where our two "emeritus" coaches that joined the staff will have an opportunity to show something. They've had a bye week to prepare and the UO/UW game to watch. I'd love to think that we will do something that is both unexpected and successful at a key moment. We'll have to see, but having a couple of guys that between them have close to 70 years D 1 coaching experience can't hurt.

Not a concern for me. Christibol is dogshit as a coach and our coaches put on a clinic for ASU. Oregon has more talent no question. He somehow lights a fire under their asses the way Helton did for SC when we played them last year we might have a problem.
