Nice walk on

He turned down a scholarship from Utah to walk on at WSU? That doesn’t sound right.

He actually was committed to them at one time. But, he opened up his recruitment when Utah kept on recruiting other QBs. Utah ended up signing two QBs during the early signing period.

I believe he may have also committed late last year to FUCLA.

If he really is a preferred Walk On that WSU is getting, then WSU is getting a absolute STEAL RR(Rivals Ratings wise)

A RR 5.8 is a 4 star, and a RR 5.7 is a borderline between a 3.5 highest end 3 star, and a Lowest ended 4 star.

A RR 5.6( Which the Preferred Walk On is), is a higher to highest ended 3.5 star 3 star.

A RR 5.6 should be getting a P5, Pac 12 offer, scholly about 99.99% of the time.

So if WSU gets the RR 5.6 for a preferred Walk on, then either really wants to play at WSU, or the other Colleges maybe saw something.

But still a steal as it only cost a preferred Walk On.

A lot of potential upside, potential that can potentially be developed, coached up.

That should finish QB Corp.

Cam Ward, X Ward, Gabalis, Mateer, and this preferred Walk on, that's a pretty awesome QB room.

We also have a couple of other walk on’s and unfortunately I can’t remember their names.

These may be the strongest additions to out QB room (on paper) in one recruiting cycle in some time. Ward. Mateer and Zamora

With the new AAU format

transfer in….transfer out

This could be the new norm going forward.

2 QB Classes

Don't forget Emmett Brown, the walk on from Santa Ana California. He is another from this class. He has already enrolled, I believe.

Everyone made a big deal about Woods and Woods is a real good QB, but Zamora is right up there. Take the time to look at his film, has a strong arm, decent release and footwork, can throw the ball a mile, yet has nice touch, and can throw on the run. And he's a walk on, and based upon his film, I would assume he will earn a scholarship within a year.

I've seen a little bit of Zamora live. He's talented - big arm, sees the field pretty well, and he's a threat with his legs. He's a bit raw, probably has a little too much confidence in his arm and sometimes throws to places he shouldn't. He's gotten away with it in HS, but my guess is that he throws a lot of early picks in college. But, he's going to play somewhere.

If he's a PWO, this is a high-value pickup with a big upside.

Zamora's film is filled with "what the F are you doing? Ok, that worked out" plays. I was getting ready to write him off completely, but I noticed that he's a smooth runner. I doubt his future is at QB despite his live arm. He might have a future at WR.

One of two things will happen within two years.

Either he impresses and is on scholarship, with a shot at PT.

Or he is gone. But his desire to be a Coug is significant. And he will like the local support.

Seems like there’s more PWOs than usual. My guess is because of the wonkiness in recruiting now, dual signing days, and late start for this staff, these PWOs are probably coming in with the understanding that competition for a scholarship may be more favorable for them than usual.

As for JP Zamora, the kid has a big arm, if you look at his highlights, makes throws 50+ yard down field with very little effort, hits 20 yard outs from the far hash, quick release and the ball is there quickly. Those things you can't coach, needless to say you don't see bad decisions in the highlights so you don't get a great feel on accuracy. I haven't seen the kid play, but there is a lot to like about his tape and room for improvement. If he takes chances he shouldn't, a lot of QB's with big arms always think they can squeeze it in, common problem, but can be corrected, Halliday is one that comes to mind that had this problem, not sure it was ever totally corrected, but he got better. The other plus is this kid runs well for a 6'4" QB . Coaching can eliminate the the bad decisions, and if anyone can do it Morris can. So who knows, he didn't get a scholarship for a reason, but the kid has upside, the question is can you tap it. Time will tell. Morris has added several good QBs, competition brings out the best in many, so we will see what happens. I have to give Morris a lot of credit, JDL left, but there is a lot more to work with in the QB room today, than there was a month ago. I would assume a couple of them will be in the transfer portal in 2 years. And they will all be better QB's for having worked with Morris.
