Nije at Pangos

The story you linked, and the videos of NJIE's play at the 2023 Pangos AA camp, that I had to search, scour to find, watch show just how freaking awesome that NJIE is.

NJIE COULD NOT BE GUARDED, DEFENDED, STOPPED, DOMINATED, versus the BEST OF THE BEST.

247 has NJIE as the 5th best player at the camp.

Pangos thought about inviting him to the top 30 all star game, and said that he just barely didn't make the cut, and out of those that didn't make the cut, he was the best, meaning he was the 31st best.

Pangos did have NJIE play in the top 60 all star game.

NJIE was NBA ish FREAKISHLY LIGHTNING quick, fast, speedy, first step, crossover, change of direction, change of pace, ANKLE BREAKING, SHIFTY, and was, did beat ALL the best there off the dribble, and drives, slashed, blew by, ALL, and SLITHERED, TWISTED, CONTORTED, went around, under, over, whatever it took to get to basket, create his own shot, lay up, dunk, etc, and FINISH, even with a shotblocker to CONTEST him, in the way, and where he did reverse lay ups, windmills, scoop shots, finger rolls, runners, tear drops, Michael Jordan like lay up moves to find a way to get the ball in basket.

NJIE also hit turnaround, fall away shots, midrange shots, 3 point shots, led fast breaks, did ally oop passes, distributed ball well, etc.

247 also says that NJIE finishes thru contact, and also gets to the line a lot, if he doesn't get to basket cleanly, and doesn't finish.

And from what I saw in videos, I would agree with that.

NJIE is like Hardaway, Iverson, etc, as far as play style.

And I would say that against best of best competition, like what ats Pangos, he seems, looks more athletic, skilled, talented, better, etc, then Dominic Ellison, Benny Seltzer, Neil Derek, Tony Harris, Ike Fontaine, Terrence Lewis were when they were being recruited by WSU.

247 says that NJIE is extremely likely to not only play a lot of minutes, but start right out the gate from the start, as he is that good.

And the kid has a awesome work ethic, and works extremely hard on his game.

247 says that NJIE is just barely by skin of teeth not ranked a 4 star, and says that the kid is pretty much a 4 star.

But from what I read, and saw of his play at Pangos, the kid is a clear cut 4 star, 5 star, 4.5 star.

The last recruit that played at either UW, Gonzaga, WSU, etc, in WA, that played as well as NJIE did at, in Pangos, played at Gonzaga and was a NBA prospect at Gonzaga.

Now I'm not saying the kid is a guaranteed, Potential NBA Prospect, but the kid sure as heck seems like he might have that potential, upside.

The only thing that would seem like it might semi hold him back from that, is altho he has such extreme NBA lateral quickness, etc, he does not have extreme NBA jump out of gym explosiveness, at least not yet.

But that said, if, since NASH, Stockton, Horneck, Dan Marle, Ehlo, Kerr, Legler, etc, can make the NBA(they weren't that athletic, or at least didn't seems so, etc), then NJIE can, even tho he can't jump out of gym, even tho he can dunk and sometimes even dunk over a couple players.

I don't get how Jourdand can think, say NJIE is not very good, etc.

Pump your brakes! I never said Njie wasn’t good. My only worry is after performances like this and if more continue, is wether we can actually get him at WSU. His recruiting is bound to blow up this summer. Hopefully he doesn’t get more attention and bolt for greener pastures. It’s awesome he is doing so well but a year is a long time to listen to recruiting pitches. Hopefully the staff stay in touch daily and bring him into the fold.
This performance will definitely move him up the rankings. What he did at Pangos is much better than when I watched him and that’s awesome. I will be more than happy if he has become 4/5 star recruit.

Staff knows how to project and identify players that will consider us. That's a big part of the ball of wax for us. Performances like at Pangos is probably why the staff wanted him to come in this year's class. Yup, hope we get him in 2024.

NJIE is already committed to WSU, Smith.

There is the theoretical chance he could De Commit, and go elsewhere, but that's either unlikely, or less likely, as in bball players decommit less often then in football, and usually only decommit if a coaching change, or a key player leaves team that helped recruit the recruit or NIL, etc.

Smith has a extremely good relationship with the kid, and got in early with the kid, and the kid said that Smith was the key in his recruitment.

That only leaves NIL, and I am concerned about NIL, but there is nothing that can do about that. If that happens it happens.

But that said, NJIE needs to get at least a 25k NIL deal at extreme minimum from the WSU NIL Collective.

So it's extremely probable that NJIE doesn't De Commit, and signs, and that WSU will probably get 2,3 extremely productive seasons out of him before he either transfers, plays overseas, plays in G League, enters NBA draft, etc.

Unless NJIE either reclassifies or enrolls early enough, for now it seems like he would enroll, play in 2025, since I think, remember, saw that he is a Junior, entering his senior year, and is HS class of 2024.

Hope I'm wrong tho, and that get him in 2024, instead of 2025.

He is part of our 2024 recruiting class. Which would make him a Freshman not this year but the next. If he was to reclassify he could play his coming year. I don’t see that happening this late though.

Football and basketball seem to be completely different as far as commitment, de-commitment for greener pastures goes. I’m not sure why but it rarely happens as far as I can recollect.
