Noah to UW

Total dick move.

Guy must be so proud.
??? How so? Because he didn’t do what you wanted? Because he went to UW? It was pretty clear to me that was his destination all along. I’m happy for him and happy for us. Or V still just didn’t match his skill set…

Not surprised and probably something that's been in the works for some time. The TJ Bamba retweet of "Dawg" wasn't an accident. The brandx mutt board mods view him as a PG. I hope it works out for him.

instagram deleted...so, a bit much for me but still wish Noah well.

why do you hope it works out for him? He isn’t a point guard. I hope they run him at the point because he’s a terrible ball handler. He’s a defender and that is that. What I saw from him this year he is a very limited player.

For the same reasons that if any head coach, player, assistant coach, etc, went to your DECADES long, MAIN Rival, that's not only that kind of rival, but traditionally have owned you in football, basketball, and in recruiting, and where the College, fans, coaches, media, etc, have been stuck up, snobby, snotty, better than thou, misbehaving, etc, AHOLES, etc.

Now there are exceptions to that, and the college, players, coaches, etc, also do good, etc

But semi normally, they lack CLASS, etc, somewhere between some to most of time normally.

Also it's one thing to choose UW over WSU, but a different thing to either commit, sign to WSU, or play at WSU, or coach at WSU, etc, and then goto UW.

Also it would be one thing, if UW was the only place that would take Noah. But Noah probably didn't even look to see if he could go somewhere else that would be a good fit.

Probably the reasons that Noah transfered to UW, is he wanted to go there all along(That's fine, he probably should have gone there, instead of WSU then), an probably combined with wanting to be a dick, spite Smith, WSU, fans, etc.

Also the other problem with transferring to a rival, is it can give the rival, in conference team, more insight, knowledge, on how to beat the place you transfered from.

There is a reason why in football, that you used to have to sit out a year, if you transfered to another college in conference, to discourage transferring to a conference rival, or another college in conference.

It wouldn't be as big a deal if WSU, didn't play UW, hardly ever.

I wish Noah well, except when he plays WSU, because that's the classy, nice thing to say, etc.

But if I am honest, I don't care how he does if he is not playing WSU, and I hope WSU beats UW 1000-0, and that a WSU player scores 75 points on Noah, and that Noah has 0 points, rebounds, assist, etc, and turns the ball over 1000 times, for being a pouty, bad attitude, etc, PRICK to WSU, Smith, players, fans, etc, an for going to UW, to be a PRICK, SPITE WSU, Smith, Fans, players, etc.

I like to be one of the ones who says “Best of luck” to him when a WSU player leaves…but that goes away when you put on that uniform. Hope he falls flat on his face and continues to get boo’d by UW fans. That said, he never showed any signs of improvement as his horrific season continued last year, so I’m not worried about him doing any damage to us. The way he played last year he probably didn’t have many options.

Lol.. Not Guy, but not a hater.. I’m hoping we mop the court with the Huskies.. but, it was fairly clear that he didn’t fit what we are trying to do. Always best to move on… In my opinion it helps us if he is replaced with a player who better fits what we need. Everything doesn’t have to be a negative…

When Bamba tipped off where Noah was headed it didn't sit well at all. That wore off and I came back to simply wishing him well wherever he landed. No skin off my nose and I see myself as "Coug' as they come.

Ok, just go somewhere else then UW then, or only goto UW, IF UW is the ONLY place that would take you transfering to them.

Noah PROBABLY went to UW to be a PRICK, to SPITE WSU, Smith, fans, players, etc.

Mikalas… Are you the type of guy that doesn’t want your girlfriend but doesn’t want her to go where she can be happy?? Sometimes shut doesn’t work out. I find it funny that all of you guys root for our previous coaches after they left us.. Literally saying that WSU a D1 basketball P5 conference school was a stepping stone for them… Yet a player who leaves needs to be crucified and is a dick etc…He didn’t fit.. Went where he felt he fit better.. End of story!! Move on…. Amazing that his teammates don’t have an issue. To me that says the most… A lot of you just have little brother syndrome..”How can you choose my big brother” stop the crying and suck it up.. I don’t want anyone here that doesn’t want to be here…

Tells me he always wanted to be at UW… I’m cool with that… Then I’m glad you left… but, it doesn’t make you a dick?! You guys sound like people I knew in high school who thought all the cute girls were bitches because they couldn’t get one…

He simply got recruited by the Will Conroys & Tre Simmons of the world… I just don’t see why people would be mad… Good bye & Good luck to ya..No different for Kunz or anyone else who thinks there is something better for them out there.. Is it ok, if it came out that he wanted to play the point and the coach told him he couldn’t??

Those previous coaches didn't goto UW.

Also like I said, there is a reason why players used to have to sit out, miss a year if transfer to a conference rival, or another team in conference.

Also like I said if UW, it's coaches, fans, players, etc, were MORE CLASSIER, then wouldn't be as big a deal.

Also like I said, if UW was either the ONLY place that would take him, an or if it was ONLY that he TRULY wanted to goto UW, and nothing else like, such as SPITING WSU,Smith, fans, players, etc, then it wouldn't be as big a deal, or no big deal.

BUT Noah probably went to UW to SPITE WSU, Smith, players, fans, etc.

To use your girlfriend example, it would be like your girlfriend going to a enemy, instead of to some other random dude.

Yeah you would move on, but you would still dislike your ex more for choosing a enemy of your just to SPITE you.

Agree with that last part of what you said tho about not wanting him here if he doesn't want to be at WSU.

And like I said if he went anywhere else, I would wish him the absolute best.

So good reason to not like him transferring to UW.

But that doesn't mean I am not moving on.

Your right that it is move on time, and next guy up.

I certainly wish he hadn’t gone to UW as well.. I also hope we kick their ass and he goes 0-20, but I’m not going to attack the kid personally.. He never did anything near as I can no tell but play his heart out for us.. His family lives in Seattle & we got out recruited for our own player… So be it… More reason to root against the Huskies, but it doesn’t have to be personal as some have made it…

I have no emotion about this move at all. I thought it was very possible the move he would make.

Seems a weird fit given Hopkins is a zone D guy and NW's best strength is tough on-ball defense.

I cringed every time he had the ball with time running low on the shot clock. Also, he was almost guaranteed to miss any layup shot he took.

It is always very telling who is on the floor at end of close games. It became clear that Smith lost confidence in him being in the game. And no wonder. He was a turnover waiting to happen.

Maybe he will get refocused and remotivated and put in a good finish to his career at UW. His resume looks better than his prospects though.

He will certainly be very motivated in two games each year as I'm sure Smith told him the truth about his expectations of dwindling playing time next season.

It was a good divorce for both parties. No hard feelings? I definitely wouldn't count on that.

He will give everything he's got and a little more 2 games a year. Should be fun to see!

I would have preferred him to go somewhere else but most of this commentary is ridiculous. He wasn't happy with the way things went this year. He wanted a new start. Many (most?) of those here thought he was a drag on the team. He is a Seattle kid. UW showed interest and he accepted their offer. Nothing really surprising here. I wish him well except when he plays us.

I generally agree with you except for the comment that we got outrecruited for our own player. I'm not sure Smith was going to try all that hard to re-recruit Noah and both parties probably agreed it was best for Williams to move on. It certainly opens up an opportunity for someone good in the portal to come in and get plenty of playing time.

Glad Cougar

Agreed… I was just meaning that they (Seattle UW Bball graduates) have been actively recruiting him since the end of last year.. He just finally ended up in a position where the new start was probably best and as you state I’m not sure our coaches disagreed..

Let’s look at this from the bright side, Smith now had 3-4 scholarships open. This is a great opportunity to upgrade the roster at the SG and PG positions. Looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.

He's a punk...always has been. Which one of you was chanting "once a coug, always a coug"? That sure didn't age well did it. I am not a fan "once a coug always a coug" Is Terry Mixon still a Coug? How about Anthony McClanahan? Deon Burnett? They were once Cougs....do some of you still embrace them as Cougs?

And before some of you start with the "well one killed his wife and the other transferred to the rival school...just saying you might want to start adding caveats to the saying.

Once a coug always a coug UNLESS

A. You kill your wife
B. You walk out on your team at halftime
C. You rob banks
D. You transfer to the UW.
E. You have your wedding on the same Saturday WSU has a home football game.

Your absolutely right that it's ok in a way. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. But he absolutely can do what he shouldn't do.

Just like I can say he was probably being a Prick, by going to UW to spite WSU, Smith, players, fans.

Just like I can root for WSU to beat UW 1000-0 and that he does nothing except get 75 points scored against him, and turning it over 500 times, etc.

How many WSU players have transfered to UW, after playing for WSU for 1,2 years, etc?

Maybe 1, or 2 besides Noah.

Many PAST WSU players would have said that any WSU player that transfers to UW, is LAME, and WASNT A COUG, and that a COUG, either won't, shouldn't transfer from WSU to UW.

That players at WSU think it's awesome that Noah transfered to UW, just shows how much that OLD SCHOOL culture at WSU has changed amongst WSU's players.

I I am not happy about Williams going to the UW, but he can do as he pleases. He did some great things last year, not sure what happened this year. I assumed he was going to the UW when he said he was hitting the portal, I also assume he had it worked out with his buddies at UW back in January when he seemed to check out, he just wasn't mentally into the game, I thought he might have an injury. Williams strength is man d, Hopkins insists in using all these athletes into his 2-3 zone, so we will see how that adjustment works.

I don’t think he is a punk, I have always liked him and wished he stayed but he didn’t and I won’t second guess his decision because it’s his life and he knows what’s best for him. He also left with much more grace the JDL and didn’t harm the team during the NIT run like JDL did during the Sun Bowl. With that said he is now a husky, I don’t wish him the best and the husky cougar games should fun the next couple of years.

While I wish him well as I would anyone I'm glad he's gone. I agree with Trump that he is a punk and I had become disgruntled with his attitude and pre-game antics.

I don't wish him any ill will. Hope he does okay against everyone other than the Cougs and that UW is a horrible team overall. Hopefully he appreciates what WSU did for him.

The thing I don't like about this from a WSU perspective is the high likelihood of it looking bad. Williams seems like the kind of guy who enjoys negative attention and is motivated by feeling spurned. Combine that with the expectation that any player might put things together as an upperclassman--think how many times we've seen middling players do much better as upperclassmen--and the low baseline for improvement compared to what he did last year at WSU, and it isn't hard to see him doing OK at UW and the narrative being that UW coached him better in ways Smith couldn't, nor is it hard to see him doing really well against the Cougs, much like he did earlier in his career against UW. Not terribly concerned since I think he's a mess, so even an improved version won't be all that great, but he has some talent.

If he does "OK" at UW then that won't be able to be used as a narrative against Smith's coaching. I think he will do "OK" at UW, but that is his ceiling. Opposing coaches know how to play against him now...and his abilities are limiting him from performing significantly better.

I also hope that Hopkins does not do horrible at UW. I want him to be mediocre (and lose to us) so they won't fire him.
