Hello? NIU is going to the MW as a football-only addition.I’m not in favor of this , if true. Get a team in TX first or UNLV or AF.

Scroll up one post for the link, Mik. NIU to the MW. Not exactly breaking news. Brooz must have had too many brews before posting,Link, source. No Link, source by you, others, probably means it's not true, thus I won't believe it until I see links, sources, proof, etc.

If the Pac was going to merge with the MWC though, why would the MWC be adding teams like NIU etc. that would cut into the media deal pie for each member? I could see some kind of "alliance", but an actual merger doesn't make sense for a number of reasons.MTMACPAC sounds like an appropriate new name for the consolidated conference.

Ok, I still want to know what NIU's AD was talking about with his "joining of brands" BS. Where the F did that come from? Nobody seems to know. Very odd thing to say. There is no merger coming for the MWC and Pac teams. If anything, the Pac teams are going to take UNLV at some point.
I see the Pac teams sitting at 8, with whatever team that they can get by 2026 and hope that the ACC falls apart and they can get Stanford and Cal back into the fold. Stanford may choose to go independent...but I'd bet that Cal would come back. Utah already hates being in the Big 12 and it wouldn't be shocking to see them back in the future.
Long story short, the Pac and MWC are not likely to merge. Too many other better long term options out there.
I agree with Save that the MW's recent moves are sinking any possibility of a merger. I disagree with Flat that Stanford, CAL or even Utah would come back to the Pac. Hoping that the ACC falls apart is not my idea of a long-term option. And Utah is just all butthurt because they sucked in the Big-12 this year. They aren't going anywhere.
