Why hasn’t a 4th degree misdemeanor assault charge hit the news? Because 4th degree misdemeanor assault isn’t usually newsworthy. It’s something that happens daily.
It’s only coming out now because of the political angle…and probably because the victim or his pals started telling their story.
WSU wouldn’t want it to come out on its own, and certainly weren’t going to help it. And at this point, there’s little they can say - it’s a student conduct and employee issue, which they’ve never had much to say about while still being adjudicated.
I’m certain that this is in the conduct process. The instructor has already been suspended, and there’s no way he’s being reinstated after assaulting a student.
There are student conduct issues involving assaults on a regular basis. They should all be handled the same way. The political motivation is what put it in the news, and is why this one might be handled differently…but it shouldn’t be.

Professors blindside attacking students on the street is no big deal? Routine, now? Happens on a regular basis? Students getting attacked on a College campus due to their political beliefs?

Not a professor. Graduate TA, basically. Students fight for all kinds of dumbass reasons, especially when alcohol is involved. I’ve seen fights worse than this between girls over one of them looking at a dude.
Nope. Assault 3 is mostly reserved for attacks on public officials - cops, firefighters, doctors, nurses, etc.
Washington assault laws depend largely on the degree of harm. 3rd degree requires “bodily harm accompanied by substantial pain that extends for a period sufficient to cause considerable suffering.” Bumps, bruises, and scrapes don’t reach that level.
Strike a nerve did I? Not my fault that, at least back in my day, Business College flunkouts moved over to Comm. Fact.
That said, you hate=filled bastards on both sides are sort of missing the point. Isn't WSU on the list of 50 Universities on the Administration's crosshairs already? Trump gets ahold of this and you WILL be reading about him cancelling all federal funding for WSU like he is attempting at Harvard and other Ivy League schools.
Agree or disagree, this would be devastating. A Political Science instructor, regardless of whether he is also a "student" or not, can't go attacking students on the street. All appearances are that he did exactly that, 2 against 1 no less. Cougs of all ilk's should all be appalled at this.

While what you said is technically, theoretically right, WSU should make a "WSU does not tolerate this or any other kind of behavior at WSU by faculty, students, etc"
Failure to make such a public comment, can make it seem like, look like that WSU is a place that tolerates that kind of behavior, and that WSU is a place of extremist, and that WSU is trying to hide, cover it up, remain quiet, hope that it all just goes away, quietly.
Not only can failure to make such a public comment, can lead to that perception, it can tarnish the image, reputation, etc, of WSU, and can cause donations to go down, and for less faculty to want to work for WSU, and for less students to goto WSU, and for more extremist to goto either work for WSU, or goto WSU as students, thinking that they might get away with their extreme behavior at WSU, etc.
There is a way for WSU to make appropriate public comments on, about what happened, that wouldn't hurt WSU, etc.
Failure by WSU leadership to make such appropriate comments, statements, is yet another failure by WSU, and WSU leadership.
Yeah, I read all four RCWs before I posted and I stand by my interpretation. I find it interesting how you would downplay another person's physical injuries.
Tell you what hot shot - pretend it was your wife or daughter that was roughed up like that and had to be reminded daily of being attacked by the pain of taking a shower, putting on clothes, or simply moving around, and let that go on for a week or so.
Are you still carrying the water for the assailant to get a lesser charge that is used to prosecute a shove or slap?
