I have twins. One is transgender and goes to Evergreen and the other is at WSU. I can assure you that I'm not MAGA, but I'm also not a progressive.
You sound like someone who can't wrap their head around how or why someone could have a differing political or economic viewpoint than yours. There's a lot of that in the world right now. For me, there are many liberal ideologies that I'm in favor of, but I'm conservative and set in my ways about things too.
I've worked in medical capital equipment sales most of my career. I'm very blessed. The pay is outstanding, and we do better with conservative business policies. For example, the Chinese tariffs have taken out my #1 competitor. It's long overdue. Outside of that, there are other reasons why I'm more on the fence than someone like yourself. My Dad was a lead Aerospace engineer at Boeing for nearly 40 years. Like my business, they did better with conservative policies, so he was mostly conservative. My Godfather was a Vietnam vet as are several members of my extended family. My girlfriend's (we've been together for 12 years) family is largely made up of first responders (fire dept), blue collar trade workers, and military vets. She herself got her dental training in the US Navy. Needless to say they're generally conservative.
I mentioned that my son (now daughter) is at Evergreen. I'm fully supportive of her, but the people in her circle and that campus culture is outer worldly to me. The kids are rude, confused, thrive on conflict and hate, and are nobody that I would want to spend time with. Without question there are tens of millions of conservative wackos who fit that description as well. I wouldn't spend time with them either.
I understand this means nothing to you, but at some point, people need to realize that we all have our reasons for voting the way we do. Not all of my feelings are fact based, and I try to be transparent about that. I don't like the stereotypical West coast progressives because I find them strange and off-putting. The K-12 system here (for me) was nauseating. It all seems fake to me, but good news, I only have 1 vote.
