We dont know if WSU had other options or not. WSU is one of the top 100 football jobs in the nation and pays millions of dollars for a head coach. The idea that they didnt have better options just doesnt hold a lot of water for me. Now, could he have been a guy with some attributes they liked? Sure. But remember, not much for P5 experience, never been a head coach before, still a young coach, and Im to believe there werent better candidates? Sorry man. I dont.

My standard isnt wins or losses.
1) Well coached and prepared.
2) Well called on game day.
3) In shape and strong kids.
4) Ultimate effort.
5) All day tough.

Show me those things and I can deal with bad beats (Bobby Wade) or being out talented or having some injuries or having young players.

Show me kids that dont know where to line up, blow assignments, lazy, weak, quit and coaches that have zero answers to what the other side is doing and I have 0 tolerance for that. Especially for coaches creating generational wealth.
I'll take that all day long,

Imo, it is the barest, minimum standard of competency. If your coaching staff cannot meet or exceed these things, they should be fired immediately. These are not men making $48,000 per year. These are not jobs that no one wants and cannot find candidates.

WSU is a top 100 football program in the nation. Why the fck would the school, its alums and its fans accept less?

I will be happy if the kids are in better condition than the opponent, so we win the 4th quarter; if we have kids who know their assignments, ESPECIALLY on the O line; and if we end up with some kids playing hurt. Because if nobody has any pain after a game, they were either very lucky or not playing 100%.

If we manage to accomplish those few things, we will win more than we lose this year.

Now you see why I expect what I expect. You create expectations that if met will lead to winning seasons.

I'll take things losers say for $100. Or maybe just HS coaches not in Texas or the south.

It's ALWAYS about W/L at this level, else wtf are you even doing? Then again, maybe too many of our fanbase and (scarce) donors agree because they sure as fck don't vote with their wallet.

I wish there was a verifiable way to see how much the posters (posers) on this board actually contribute to the cause. One would think that if your dedication drives you login here every day and bitch about the state of the program, they'd at least be solid donors.

Annual giving to CAF?
Season ticket holder? If yes, how long?
RV pass holder?
Collective (NIL) donations?

I'm a longtime season ticket & RV pass holder, and accordingly, I make annual donations to the CAF and now also the Collective. With that said, I am in no way a bigtime booster, yet my donor ranking lands me in the top 2,500.

When a run of the mill season ticket holder who gives a couple thousand dollars a year is one of your top 2,500 donors, it illustrates how pathetically lame our fanbase is in terms of donations.

Annual giving to CAF? I used to donate to the CAF (even while I was attending), but have said I wouldn't until there's a change in leadership and have been saying that for years.
Season ticket holder? If yes, how long? At one point right out of school I considered splurging, but ultimately decided no, and now live too far away to get them.
RV pass holder? Don't own an RV.
Collective (NIL) donations? Nope. Never.

Ah yes…. find a way to shit on those that think shitty football sucks…

Just what WSU wants… more blind allegiance members of the Church of the Right Way.

When you can’t debate football, challenge their discipleship to the Church of the Right Way! How much $$$ did you put into the plate this week? Lol

I donate to WSU NIL. So fck off.

I donate every year to the CAF but not a lot. Enough to be in the Top 25% of donors....and that's embarrassing for WSU.

I also donate $18.90/month to the Cougar Collective.

No point in season tickets given that I live 1650 miles away. We do normally make it to one or two games per year. One in Pullman and one road/bowl game.

Go to Hell. I wasn't pissing on you or anyone on here (in particular). I don't get enjoyment from running people down like a lot you guys do.

My point was that it's fine to question WSU's commitment to football, but when you examine our fanbase you'll see that our support is more about virtue signaling than paying it forward. We're the champions of waving flags and saying Go Cougs, but we pucker like snare drums at the thought of giving $100/year to the CAF.

Shitty football does suck, but WSU plays over their heads by miles compared to most programs. We're dead last in donor money and make a bowl game nearly every year now.

I don’t disagree with you but I don’t think this is something unique to WSU. every fan base has folks who piss and moan but don’t contribute to success…and I’m not taking about anyone here specifically, that’s just how it is in general. The armchair QBs with delusions of grandeur constantly bashing their coach, their QB, other fans, etc. are the saddest life form in sports. I’m all for expectations and standards, but not at the expense of being able to enjoy the great moments. Leach never won the Pac-12, but he gave us one helluva fun ride that I’ll never forget.

Beating Wisconsin in their house was pretty fun. Being at UW and watching us thrash UW on their turf was awesome. Last year ended with a thud, but Dickerts done some great things for a young coach and I think he’s got a bright future. I sure as hell wouldn’t want a Charlie Weiss or RichRod, just cuz they’re a household name..that’ll get you two things. Massive disappointment or brief success followed by “see ya Pullman” and another coaching search. Nope, give me the lesser known guy with a ton of energy who kicks the shit out of the mediocre opponents, goes toe to toe with the big boys of the conference, and wants to be here.

Hey I'm with you. I had season tickets for 20 years (dropped 'em during the Wullf years.) BB season tickets during the Bennett years. Was A Cougar Club member for many years. I still love my Cougs, but haven't given a dime to Athletics or my (Business) college for a long time. Not really sure why. Maybe 'cuz I'm now retired, and while I have money, I just don't throw it away. Except on beer and cute women :)

Just don't know. Why Billionaire Paul Allen Didn't give us a couple hundred million like T. Boone Pickens gave Ok. State is beyond me.

I’m not going to make judgements for people who do or don’t contribute $. Everyone’s situation is different and fluid. There’s been times since I graduated where I could write big checks and times when I was down to my last Pennies (2 kids in FT daycare in my 20s). That said, if you’re going full heads on pikes with the coaching staff or administration, back up your reasoning with some receipts or write the kind of check that will give you a voice. Otherwise you’re just noise. Some people just bitch because they like to bitch.

I don't cast judgements on fans who don't contribute UNLESS they are constantly ragging on the athletic department for not investing enough money in our coaches.

Given what CD stepped into and how he has managed The program, I think it’s more than adequate. I just wish Cam was better than advertised!

Always wondered about this one. Considering he cared for the school enough to donate some big chunks to academics and he loved sports enough to buy the Seahawks and blazers I always figured it was one of two things…Some backup defensive lineman dunked on him like revenge of the nerds and he hated WSU football because of it and/or he had too many UW/Oregon buddies with his Seattle roots and w the Blazers that he didn’t want to piss off by being a GameChanger for WSU. Not too often does a school like WSU have a guy like Paul Allen who could change the trajectory of cougar athletics for decades.

Yeah I never got that. I mean hey - I'm not a rich guy, but shit the guy was a frat boy while he was there, put a bunch of money into his frat, out donated Bill Gates $25 to $24 million to the" Global Animal Health" program. Not sure what else. But never really did much, Athletics-wise (unless I'm wrong, which is pretty much never :). As you say, he bought the Sea squawks and JailBlazers, So why not throw a $100 million or two at your alma mater? Which granted he dropped out of, but he was still a Coug.

If I had dropped out after my freshman year and ended up being a billionaire, ida moved back to Pullman and blown my whole wad there.

Stop it. You are bringing back memories. And hey Spongy, FOAD if you don't like it.

I hope so too.

I know that we had offensive line issues last year, but Cam made things so much worse because of how he reacted to those issues. I'm hoping that a little more maturity on the offensive line, combined with a better OC leads to Cam really getting a chance to get into a positive rhythm. Last year wasn't quite Chad Davis, but we failed to score 20 points in five different games. If that doesn't change...we are hosed. We do have a fairly manageable schedule....so there's that.

We will know pretty early. Wisconsin will be a big tell. Home game, should be good weather, solid opponent. If things look ugly probably a repeat of last year. Early prediction, I happen to think we will see a 37-34 kind of game.

You'd move to Pullman if you were a billionaire? Why TF would you do that?

Let's see....

Amalfi Coast or Pullman?
La Jolla or Pullman?
Mauna Kea or Pullman?
Lisbon or Pullman?

I agree in principle but think the scores will be lower.

Yeah....I wouldn't be moving to Pullman. I'd have a suite in the stadium and I'd go to several games a year though.

I’ve been to Hawaii, Portugal, Spain, Prague, Mexico (multiple places) Italy, Austria, all over the Carribean with some change in my pocket. I had the time of my life in Pullman when I was broke. Imagine how much fun I could have if I was the richest guy in town.

Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t take my private jet somewhere else a couple of times a year 😀

if they cant coach the kids to play good hard nosed football, not make stupid mistakes etc.. like lining up offsides on critical plays, or any other time they need to go. play good solid football and lose to a better team OK, don't like losing but play stupid football and lose winnable games is not acceptable
