In the last Pac 12 matchup between the Cougs and Cardinal, WSU gets to within 1 game of bowl eligibility

Us 41. Them 30.

Lots of rain. Lots of fumbling. Probably by us. 34-30 Furd, the devils put a fork in us, we’re done.

I predict I will give a friend some money to take the Cardinal and 13.5 points. If I'm betting by proxy, then I'm not directly betting against the Cougs.

This team has mailed it in and Stanford has gotten better each week

31-27 Stanford

It’s taking everything I’ve got not to put my entire net worth on Stanford covering. I feel like these Coug lines are trying to draw me in to degenerate gambling. I might be cooked when they come out with UW - 3 in the AC.

Cougs as a 13.5 point favorite is ridiculous.

Stanford wins when opponents favor the pass and aren’t able to run. The huskies had less than 100 yards rushing against them last week, and Stanford still had a shot with 2 minutes left. We haven’t run on anyone, and there’s nothing to suggest we will this week.

Our defense has been pretty much absent since halftime of the Oregon state game. They showed up for about 25 minutes against oregon, but then wandered away again.

This team will not win another game unless they start trying.

I don’t usually make score predictions, and I’ve never picked against WSU. But I’m throwing down the gauntlet, hoping they’ll prove me wrong

Stanford 41
WSU 24

To quote a line from Casino, is their quarterback on coke on something?

I think in this case, whoever is making these lines is on coke...pun intended.

I'm with just about everyone here. WSU -13.5 seems crazy. I was expecting more like WSU -6. Vegas is uncannily clever, though. Every bit of analysis and common sense leads me to want to go something like Stanford 31, WSU 27, and in any case to want to take Stanford +13.5, but I won't be shocked if this is the week Stanford screws around and looks terrible again, there's some BS in the wind, cold, and/or rain, and it's something like WSU 31, Stanford 17. I sure as hell wouldn't bet on the Cougs to cover, though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't CW been horrible in weather? I don't mean lower numbers, I mean really really bad. Like 10% pass completion. I could be remembering wrong.

Anyway, if memory serves we'll be completely dependent on a running game, which we don't have. The Cougs won't score more than 10.

If the defense can somehow hold the trees to 10 or less they might win the game.

Bleeder, you don't think the homefield advantage makes a difference?

The weather and the partisan crowd collectively ought to be enough to tilt the scales in favor of the Cougs

Made a big difference against Arizona, didn’t it?

A similar effort will generate similar results.

Not sure having fans cheering for you help you grip the ball better in cold and wet.

But hey, people change and grow and get better, so maybe so did CW. I can only go off of what I've seen and what I know.

The rain is likely to keep the score down a bit. It will also favor the run game (which we don’t have) and the short routes (which we don’t use).

It’ll be cold, wet, and miserable. Players who quit in the heat at UCLA and the sun in Tempe will do it even earlier in the rain.

And the stands will have low energy, and will be sparsely populated after halftime. The Cougs have taken to not playing in the second half, so fans won’t miss anything anyway.

Stanford 27
WSU 9

Yeah man, it sure is tempting...but it's against my religion to bet against the Cougs. Haven't come up with a name for said religion yet. I'm open to suggestions.

I'm not much of a gambler but I'll place a few wagers with friends from time to time. My buddy hit me up to bet on today's game. I countered and told him I would take ASU and the 11.5 against Utah.

I also think that is generous by Vegas considering how ASU is improving and Utah isn't getting Rising back.

Which leads me to another point. There are an awful lot of teams improving in our conference and playing good football except us.

We play like we were at the Dancing Bare in Portland the night before every game.

Vegas has the Cougs' points at O/U 36.5 for the game and Stanford at O/U 23.5. I don't think that Stanford number is crazy, but that Cougs number is pretty juicy, especially now with the hourly forecast indicating the rain is supposed to last all day and continue all game. Subject to, again, Vegas usually knowing something.

We find the running game due to the weather and CW scrambling around, 24-10 Cougs. Both teams are offensively offensive

Hmm. Weather.com's radar has the rain clearing out at around 5PM. Guess we'll see.

Reminds me of a story (I have many). Forget who we were playing, might have been Idaho in the dark days. So a September game, it was pouring rain. I ran across this young guy who had wrapped himself head to toe in plastic wrap from his RV. So hilarious.
