Stanford Women's Soccer Goalie Dead At 22
Stanford announced that Katie Meyer, goalie and captain of the women's soccer team, has passed away. The school's athletic page confirmed Meyer's passing on
Incredibly sad and tragic.
I haven't found any news source that confirms it. Most indicate that cause of death has not been revealed, but she was found in a dorm on campus. The Stanford Daily mentions a non-specific "medical emergency," nobody else really says anything.Has it been confirmed a suicide?
I agree about 99%. The one caveat is that since it was an on-campus death, there's an argument that at least a vague statement about cause of death may help demonstrate that there's no threat to others. The first course, obviously, is to state outright that there's no threat, and that's usually going to be enough. Providing some information about the cause can also kill the rumor mill and keep the whole range of different stories from taking hold.Maybe I'm old school but matters like this relative to the cause of death should be strictly for the family to announce or not.
There are plenty of awareness and resources for suicide prevention but when it happens, it's really none of our business until they decide it should be.
No, they didn't.Stanford made it pretty obvious in the official announcement how she passed, without explicitly saying it. That is enough.
Were any the family or the ME? If not, its speculation.Multiple sources yesterday indicating suicide.
Regardless, tragic and underscores that mental health is a problem and athletes need support outlets. Too familiar to Tyler's tragedy.
Speculation from a legal standpoint, true enough. Were any the family or the ME? If not, its speculation.
Speculation unfortunately has been confirmed .Were any the family or the ME? If not, its speculation.
Congrats?Speculation unfortunately has been confirmed .
Because from that Apple story she apparently was facing some potential disciplinary action from the University for defending a fellow student and was upset about it.Congrats?
Again, not sure why it need to be a thing where anyone is trying to figure out why she passed. The information would be out soon enough.
So what. You're implying Stanford made her do it?Because from that Apple story she apparently was facing some potential disciplinary action from the University for defending a fellow student and was upset about it.
Everyone has their own line to draw.Congrats?

Let's wait and see.So what. You're implying Stanford made her do it?
People don't put "if you are feeling lonely please reach out for help, you are not alone" in a press release when someone dies of a sudden brain aneurysm, you dipshit. No, they didn't.
She could have died from something undiagnosed; that still deserves privacy for the deceased and the family. Truth is, it's nobody's fcking business and all this speculation is sickening and incredibly disrespectful.
Timely.People don't put "if you are feeling lonely please reach out for help, you are not alone" in a press release when someone dies of a sudden brain aneurysm, you dipshit.
Also, her parents went on national TV to talk about it.
