I heard a few years ago from sources close to Climate Pledge that 2024 was the year. Either Memphis gets relocated to Seattle or the league expands.

Looks like expansion is coming....(usually where there is smoke there is fire on these things).

Timing, if 2024 is the year, would put things in motion. 2 full years from now. Gives time to award the franchise in early 2023. Build out your headquarters etc. Put the staff together by late 2023, early 24. Expansion draft in June of 2024. Play in October of 2024.

Expansion = 24 more no-talent G league players stealing money from fans. I mean, its the owners of course, but still.

The league is already haves and have-nots, so lets just widen the gap even more! Great!

Like I needed another reason to not watch the NBA.

But hey, at least the WNBA won't be forced down our throats any longer.

I hate the NBA and have hated it since they moved the Sonics in the first place. That said I’m a sucker and if they do it right (same name, same unis, etc) I’ll watch again.

I haven’t watched the NBA since the Sonics were stolen and have no plans to watch it in the future should they come back. I have better things to do then watch bad basketball being played by pampered millionaires

I will likely watch them again. Good memories back in the day when the Sonics were a good team.

Don't watch the G-League then? I certainly don't. I don't really watch the NBA, but this is probably some of the deepest talent pool they've had, ever.

They'll expand to Seattle and Vegas. Minnesota will move to the eastern conference. Memphis and NOLA will stay in the western conference.

I'd argue the WNBA isn't forced down your throat, but to each their own. I'll watch a player like Sue Bird anytime - she is a baller and had a fantastic career.

For years whenever the NBA expanded people complained about the dilution of talent but the level of commitment and training and science today is way beyond what it was 40-50 years ago. I’m convinced the talent pool has never been deeper.

Eh. We’ve watched bad baseball for 20 years but it’s fun to watch the Mariners. Don’t get me wrong I’m not gonna pay $500 a pop for tix but I’ll turn it on free TV.

Any sports league that does not have some sort of equalizing mechanisms between small and large market teams is likely to see less than optimum fan support. I don't think we even need to discuss the reasons...they are obvious. Cleveland had the best player in the league for many years and could not put together the right pieces, and it was more about resources than management competence. Seattle will be in the have nots unless some owner wants to lose $100m or more per year.
