Both Fox and ESPN rumored to be willing to pay full price ($31M).

I think a lot will be be learned after this weekend. Beavs vs. Cougs tv ratings should be very telling to the value and if the Cougs pull out the upset, look out for a BIG game in the Rose Bowl.

Is the Comcast blackout for Fox Spokane only?

Rumored by whom?

So what you are saying is, networks that are losing money, losing viewers, cutting staff, backed out of bidding for Pac-12 media rights, i.e. the circumstances that led to the collapse of the conference, are now going to sponsor WSU and OSU to join the Big-12? This is all Big-12 "regret" rumor, because they invited a bunch of embarrassingly crap programs into the fold, and are now realize it.

They (ESPN in this case) did reportedly offer 30-whatever million to the "10". Whether ESPN valued WSU/OSU as more or less (even significantly less) than the other 8 IDK.

Technically, every program is essentially "sponsored". I would actually say bought is more fitting. Might be semantics but the B1G didn't want UW/Oregon. Fox wanted UW/Oregon at a reduced rate. The Big 12 might have wanted the 4 corners, but as a means of dismantling the Pac 12. Still, ESPN made the final decision whether the Big 12 wanted or did not want the 4 corners.

Oh, so now it's on YouTube AND Twitter? That makes it so much more credible.

(That's totally sarcastic by the way.)

I don’t see anything credible besides people talking amongst each other. What source or person started this new round? Anyone worthwhile?

I would agree not holding my breath on this one. Time will tell, based upon the performance of WSU and OSU, both teams would be an asset to the Big 12, they just don't see it that way.

I'm not holding my breath....that said, the rumors on twitter about the teams that were heading their were spot on in the end.

My reading between the lines is CU is worried that the Cougs/Beavs are going to make an effort to keep as much cash as possible and CU can't afford to have a significant deficiit in the short term. Hence, they are lobbying the Big12 to make the move to help shore up their situation.

CU is going to have to write an enormous check for prime and the coaching staff to extend them next year or he will be off to Florida or Clemson for $10M+ once his sons leave. You may be on to something here.

The Colorado money is an interesting theory, if the other Pac teams that went to the Big 12 are concerned about money coming from the Pac, they better cut us a full share is they want to see any of it. As I recall a full share in the Big 12 is 31.5 million a year, and I believe UW and Oregon are getting 30 million a year from the BIG, with an annual increase of 1 million per year. So right now a full share in the Big 12 is more than Oregon and Washington will get from the Big 10.

The "BYU Mafia" guy even pointed out OSU and WSU were more competitive than programs like ASU & Arizona. CU over the last 20 years as well. Both programs have footed the bill to do what constitutes being "P5" or now "P4". OSU just did a $100M remodel on their stadium.

I don't think any of "us" are holding our collective breath at this point, but to get left out is literally a crime.

I still say F the F-ing F-ers. UCF, Cincinatti, West Virginia? Kansas and K-state too I guess. That is just too far flung.

Power 5 or G5, with the expanded playoffs what does it matter? And F the playoffs anyway. Everyone is so fixated on the playoffs. Remember when the PAC champ played the Big 10 champ in the Rose Bowl every year? And the Sugar Bowl, and Orange Bowl, etc. Those were the good old days. Now it is just F-ed.

Read the article on Brand X or Y about how the Coug and OSU flags are teaming up for the rest of the year on Gameday. Pretty cool. I like the Beavers. Then again, I like Beaver. :)

They're talking about it on Brand Z, too.

This seems like a really big deal
Guaranteed there will be some show of solidarity between the schools on Saturday as well. This is an opportunity to make a statement. I’m curious what we will see.

Also, I’ll be cheering for the beavers when they hit the field on Saturday. I’m going to scream like hell when they have the ball and hope we beat them like a drum but they are the one team that doesn’t deserve boos this year and they aren’t going to get them from me.

Let's get real here. If ESPN/Fox want the Big 12 to add Washington State, Oregon State, or Memphis to the league, they will. It's not about wins and losses this season. BYU, Cincy, UCF, and Houston got invited due to market size, growth potential, and yes due to outperforming expectations of the typical G5 member. Boise State has been doing that last part for a longer period of time btw, but you notice they haven't sniffed an invite.

Memphis is lobbying hard to get into the Big 12. There is an article detailing how the school president has gotten the Governor of Tennessee to lobby for their inclusion. They're using Fed Ex, Lowes, and everything they have to get invited. There has been constant correspondence between their school president to the Big 12 commissioner. Love letters that would make a swooning Justin Bieber fangirl blush.

I'd take everything with a grain of salt. There will be four "power" leagues going forward. Enjoy this season, win big. Keep making noise, perhaps there is a grain of truth to all this speculation.

$10 to the grounds crew member that paints a big black X over the 1 on the Pac12 Conference logo on the field.
