PAC 12 men's basketball is 5-0 with a couple of game I thought were interesting.

A Utah team beat Nevada at home in a nail bitter. This is a depleted Nevada with Alford as it new coach, but still a nice win for the Utes.

Cal beat Pepperdine at home 87-71. This is an experienced Pepperdine team that was expected with be 4th in the WCC with some talk about cracking the top 3. Santa Clara, the coug's 2nd game (away), is predicted to come in 5th place in the WCC.

Could be a more challenging conference than the past couple of years. Another game I found interesting was Nebraska getting drilled at home by UC Riverside, a team that went 10-23 last year and finished near the bottom of the Big West Conference, also picked to finish 7th in the 9-team conference this year. It's been a tough year for Husker fans no matter the sport. Bill Moos brought in the big name coach (Fred Hoiberg) and I'm sure they'll improve. Maybe this opener is an aberration, but that's not the kind of start they wanted. It was the first season home opener loss in Lincoln since 1980. If Hoiberg doesn't work out, maybe Moos can ask an old friend back to become Husker coach. I hear the friend is not busy right now....or perhaps he IS busy counting his money courtesy of WSU.

Damn and i thought that WSU paying 4 million plus a year for a mediocre coach was bad. I guess the current AD is seen a near genius for being free with other people s money.

yup and some people do not take into account all the figures . I guess majoring in PE was hard for you.

Stanford started sluggish, but ended up handling a decent Montana team. I know its the first games of the year, but the predicted bottom of the Pac is looking decent so far.

Utah wins tonight by 94 points....that's right, 143-49 over Mississippi Valley State. Also, surprised to see Arizona State and Colorado playing each other so early in the year. I'm assuming that's a conference game already.

Flipping channels last night I caught a little bit of Baylor vs uw, colo vs asu and some of the Utah game. The quick eye test tells me the new faces in the PAC are an upgrade in overall talent. I can see 4-6 NCAA bids for the conference which could make for a tough conference slate for the Cougs.
