Lots of discussion about the downfall of Pac 12 hoops. It certainly is at a low point, but just for a little historical perspective lets look at the last 40 years. How many teams in this conference besides UCLA and AZ have made a final 4 during that period. I will name one. Oregon 2 years ago. Stanford didn't even maje elite 8 with the Lopez twins. The great Jason Kidd Cal team got knocked off by Dick Bennetts Wisconsin Green Bay.

I will give half a point if someone names Utah with Andrew Bogut, but that was 5 years before they joined the conference.

Probably a team or 2 that I missed, but pretty hard to refute that the conference has historically been the most top heavy of any major. Before Lute came it was UCLA and the 7 dwarfs

Stanford with Tim Young and Mark Madsen in the middle. Looked it up and it was 1998 so right on the boarder of the parameters.

Final Four appearances is one metric, but another can be OOC record....and this year's Pac-12 teams have done poorly against even mediocre programs. ASU did beat Kansas but then lost at home to Princeton. Arizona lost to Alabama and didn't put up a fight at all vs. Gonzaga. Years past, they would've at least been competitive vs the Zags. UCLA's thumping at home by Liberty cost the coach his job. Oregon lost at home to Texas Southern. Not having a conference team in the top 36 nationally is something I can't ever recall happening before. It's just been a really poor year for the Pac-12 no matter how you slice it.

Agree it is historically bad, but just pointing out it has always been weak after the top 2.
