Quite a few of them seem to think this game will be a relative cake-walk for their team. They seem more concerned with Utah than us. I certainly hope their team does too. They literally are not going to know what hit them. This game is all Cougars, straight up, and I'll bet it'll be a double digit victory. What we need to prepare ourselves for are the excuses that are sure to come following our victory. Go Cougs!!

By the way, the ever-diminishing Oregonian/OLive loses even more credibility with its lead on one the stories previewing WSU-UO game:

EUGENE -- No. 12 Oregon travels to Pullman to face No. 25 Washington this week.

Ducks coach Mario Cristobal held his weekly press conference this morning to look ahead to this week's game, wrap up last week and provided an update on some player injuries.

Below is a full transcript from Cristobal's press conference.

That's always a pet peeve of mine....being mistaken for UW. Geez, these "journalists" get paid well enough to avoid making a mistake like that in a story's lead line. As a student of Jim Dunne's Com 165 class at WSU in the mid-70s, that kind of basic fact error was an automatic "F" for the assignment, no matter how good the rest of the article/story was written. Obviously, the Oregonian and other media have eliminated copy editors.

Glad Cougar

Let them think that. We are a match up nightmare for their defense. We got dudes at every position that can play. Browning was 15-25 for 243 on them. What is Gardner going to do? A lot.

Fans overly biased and optimistic of their team’s likelihood of beating their opponent?Shocking!

Finger, you nailed it.

As for the "Duck Nation", it has never been reality-based. Unfortunately, the coaches are smarter than the fans. The players are not going to be overconfident. Besides, they will each be hoping for their individual 15 seconds of fame with Game Day in town.

Some Oregon fans know that they have two recent ex-coug coaches and that, plus Herbert being the second coming-Heisman lock is enough to blowout WSU. It's not like Leach's game plan is really that complex, but now they have an advantage they didn't necessarily have the last three years, which somehow they've chalked up to below average QB's. Also, they seem to have almost 0 knowledge of Minshew's game.

Their hubris is only exceeded by their ignorance. I would venture most haven't seen the Cougs play this year (or any other P12 opponent, for that part.)

Laying a 20 point smack down on them after Herbert goes out with a hang nail is going to be the highlight of my season thus far.

Want to see WSU win this one however Oregon really is playing good football right now. Actually they caught a break with Taggard leaving . They got to enjoy a year of his recruiting but not his coaching .

Cristobal really has a more focused and disciplined approach.

What it really comes down to is whether Minshew can continue to be the difference maker he has been this season. He is the x-factor, without him Oregon would have to be looked at as the clear favorite.

To me Minshew is the difference. The Ducks are going to score on us, but I see little evidence that they'll fare any better against Uncle Rico than Utah or USC

Duck media still seem to be celebrating their UW win. Good, focus on that dummies.

Unless the media is strapping on the pads this weekend, probably not a big concern to the U of O football team.
Yup same could be said about the distraction of Gameday. Hard to tell how all these different variables are gonna impact the teams on Saturday. I sure like the fact that it’s going to be an insanely loud and hostile environment for Oregon. That I’m sure of.

Completely agree. And he isn't going to go all too hyper on us. He will have us high but not too high. And we need Pelluer to do the same with the defense. Minshew's interview was good. He's excited and ready to play ball. It's just ball, as he says.

Well, our fans seem to think we’ll win most games too.

I don't recall any posters predicting 12-0 this season. Best I recall is 9 wins with the bowl game included, and most had us at 5 or 6 wins.

But yeah, totally see your point about Cougs being myopic just like Oregon.

This may be one of your funniest posts ever. I seem to remember you having a little lack of confidence about 1.5 weeks ago ??

Note that he said, "Our fans" and didn't reference himself. ;)

The funny thing about the confidence by Oregon fans is the little fact that we haven't lost to them since 2014 and the last two games haven't been close. We've outscored the Ducks 84-39 in the past two years. If any fan base has a right to feel confident....it's us. The only thing that Oregon can hang their hat on is that we haven't faced a healthy true starting QB when playing Oregon in the past three games.
