"Pistorese was suspended for 50 games earlier this week after testing positive for a banned substance under the Minor League Baseball drug prevention and treatment program,..." "Pistorese tested positive as a result of medication he takes for Attention Deficit Disorder, or ADD. He appealed the suspension, eventually losing and hence the announcement. I don’t know what Pistorese’s exact circumstances are. If he was diagnosed and prescribed the medication by a doctor, this is a huge problem for baseball that needs to be fixed..."

These zero tolerance penalties are often very stupid.

That is terrible if it is by prescription.

The thought behind MLB's thinking is for a zero tolerance is they do not want players to doctor shop and pay an unscrupulous doctor to write a prescription for pay. But, from what I understand, his is a real diagnosis that he has had for a while. His suspension is dumb. Unfortunately, I don't think anything can be done now.

If I was a NCAA or Pro athlete, I would not put anything into my body without first gaining approval from the team in writing. Why put your entire care at risk?

ALL athletes know this. Even high school players

Sorry, fault lies squarely on the player here. Don't like it? tell your player rep, have player rep negotiate the issue at the next collective bargaining agreement. Unsure? Ask your agent what to do.

The rules on this at the minor league level are I believe even tougher than at the MLB level. Player should have been very aware of this, so even though he is a Coug it is on him.
