Being a player's Coach has plusses an minuses it seems. The lack of disapline and ability to control emotions and fouls and turnovers led to this loss. But those things also lead to wins. Kind of a double bladed sword.

If you're not coaching it, you're allowing it to happen.

I like Riley's offensive flow a LOT. But the turnovers aren't simply passing to one spot while the recipient is cutting to another. They are being weak with the ball and sloppy.

Cougs outrebounded UW almost 2 to 1. That should be enough to win 95% of games. Just take care of the damned ball after working hard to get it.

19+ on the boards. They did shoot really well including 10-21 from 3. Riley talked to boards and turnovers in post-game. Also was not happy with the way the game was called literally calling out "B1G 10 refs". He made the point on 19 more boards and being the more physical team but they had 5 more free throws.

We really missed Coward last night especially with LWatts in foul trouble, but it also hurts not having Wilson. They could have inserted him for defense alongside Calmese or for Calmese who was tied with IWatts with 5 turnovers. Gerritts will entered and was immediately lit up on defense.

Good point. He can reduce those significantly going forward if he wants to. Reward good behavior on the court (taking care of the ball) and punish bad behavior. It's a bit more difficult with so many injuries though.

The best way to reward/punish good/bad behavior is to control minutes. Since half the team lives in surgical recovery, and the bottom of the roster is not good, there really is no real way to reward/punish behavior.

The uw earned the win by playing their best game of the year. We didn't and lost. However, I have seen every game this season. Yesterday during the game thread, I made a comment that it was perhaps the worst refereed game this season. Coach thought so as well. Both game with Big Ten refs were horribly officiated. They go out of the way to protect their brand.

It wasn't just Watts that was in early foul trouble, but also Erikstrup. Osobor had three fouls, and he must have committed 15 or so. There were a few clean steals we made that they called fouls on us. There was one time that Osobor shuffled his feet after he had already been set and scored. There was a block that was called on us when the ball was still going up and they missed a basket interference call on a D Watts shot. There were several times we would be going in for a layup and were bumped in the air with no call and on the other end, everything was called on us. It really was ridiculous.

Still, the huskies made shots that they hadn't all season and won. In the end, that is all that matters.

The goggles guy knocked himself, Erikstrup, and IWatts or Gerritts going for a rebound and someone we were called for the foul. Haven’t gone back to look at it, but mutt player was totally out of control.

Sounds like IWatts is added to the list. We let our emotions get totally out of whack.

Yeah, Breidenback. He was totally out of control, and they somehow called the foul on Erikstrup. They did let their emotions get out of control; not sure it would have mattered in this game. Hopefully, going forward they learn from this.
