I read this week elsewhere that someone commented CFB should do away with spring practice and put them in the summer, as that could possibly resolve winter jumps during bowl season, and would align with the academic calendars. Haven't thought much more into it outside of my comment just below, but it's an interesting idea. Another idea was pulling the schedule forward two weeks (or dropping a game) to align better with academic calendars.I believe that you are correct. WSU's semester starts what - one week after NY's? They could at least stretch it to past NY day, but much further would be problematic. Although why should they actually be in school to attend Spring practice? Or have to attend at all the way things are going? I'd like to see Wayshawn's grades for this semester about to end.
Sure spring ball/practice is tradition but what's the difference dropping those practices into summer time frame? Kids can transfer after bowl season in the winter, enroll in new school (short portal), have spring workouts with the team where they'll "legally" be evaluated on their talent, and then practice in the summer to gear up for the new season.
