ftfyVandy's QB just go an injunction have more eligibility. The possible new rule is any time at JUCO won't count on your 4 year clock for the NCAA.
Hope is stands as this could help many programs build meaningful depth from the JUCO ranks to get picked off a year later by the P4 programs. "thanks for the scouting, suckas!!!!"
I can see some things I like here. Once the players are no longer students, it would/should open an avenue to also have college football for schools that require players to be students. Separate structure altogether. Maybe it breaks along FBS/FCS lines, or maybe something new gets formed. Then we can abandon the watered down college version of the pro game that the bluebloods play, and go back to rooting for teams that actually have students on the roster.I didn't read the whole decision, but the summary I read basically said that with the NIL changes, imposing a 4 year limit is now arbitrary and restricts athletes from cashing in on NIL rights.
So, it's failing to recognize an existing/remaining connection between being a college athlete and being a college student. This is the next step toward removing the "student" requirement and just letting schools hire football players to play for them.
On the plus side, I suppose this means that we'll also be able to recruit people who've been in the NFL already and are coming down the back side of their career.
"Prep School" and basketballI dont like it at all. You play 1-2 years of college football and then start your eligibility?
Here’s a scenario… you are 18 yrs old and go to a JC… You greyshirt…. Your first season you are 19, second season you are 20…. You go to a 4 year school and your clock starts all over. You redshirt at 21 and now have 4 more years of eligibility. You’ll be 32 as a senior.
Why would ANY high school kid not getting the offer they wanted go to a 4 yr school out of high school? Just go play 3 yrs of JC ball and then show up at a 4 yr school like you’re Cam Ward so you can play 200 college games.
Half kidding.
