Okay let’s go over some of the best hires we can get that fit with what we have.

Graham Harell - assistant at WSU former Leach QB. Currently OC at USC.

Alex Grinch - Former DC at WSU Currently DC at Oklahoma.

Those are some of the top people off the top of my head that I think are obtainable.

I think Harrell is waiting for Helton to get canned and hoping for a shot of being head man at USC. It would probably take more than we are willing to pay to lure him here.

How about Latrell out of North Texas? Don’t know much about him beyond he has a form of air raid and they go to bowl games almost every year. My favorite is Harrel but just throwing out a name.

He would work great. Former Leach Assistant.

Harrell
Grinch, Although only in an air raid OC pairing.
Alexander/Peter Sirmon
Bohl
Littrel
Jay Hill
Choate
McElwain

all guys I could see getting looks. Would prefer an Air Raid HC/OC with similar paid DC nearing Assistant HC level.

1.Grinch
2. Harrell
3. Bryan Harsin- More of a long shot but we could more than double is salary.

I highly doubt USC will become a guinea pig for Harrell to get his feet wet as a first time HC there.

I don’t think either Mrs. Grinch or Mrs. Harrell want to live in Pullman. Neither of those coaches would take the job unless it was a stepping stone to their dream job.

Kellen Moore. Period. “We should have pushed hard to get you out of high school. We aren’t making that same mistake twice. Come home, be a legend and set your family up financially for life.”

Sorry for repeating a post of mine in another thread, but it may be more appropriate in this thread:

My knee-jerk list of coaching candidates for WSU:

1) Bryan Harsin
2) Graham Harrell
3) Josh Heupel
4) Billy Napier (probably going to Baylor)
5) Seth Littrell
6) Jay Hill
7) Jim McElwain
8) Luke Fickell
*Not on my list, but don't be surprised if Sonny Dykes comes up as a name.

Harrell, Heupel, and Littrell all have Leach connections and probably wouldn’t do much more than tweak the offense. Napier served on some good staffs…including a year in the Pac-12…and is coming off 11 wins. Hill has built a solid program at the FCS level but may need some FBS experience before handling a P5 program, but I like him. McElwain has coached a P5 program and has ties to the PNW. Harsin would change things but has demonstrated the ability to get a lot out of 3-star recruits, which is obviously something needed in Pullman. I’m missing some other good candidates, but that’s my early read.

Glad Cougar

THIS. I don't need a coach that leaves after 2 years. Both of these guys were rumored to HATE Pullman. I don't want them back in Pullman for the paycheck, only to be looking for a new job on a monthly/quarterly basis.

If they win, who cares?

I don't want another coach with zero ambition.

Who said anything about the HC's ambition, one way or the other?

Because we've been down this road. With HC turnover, comes turmoil. Lack of consistency. And that affects the team. It affects the recruits. In every facet of business, consistency helps in productivity. Football is no exception, IMHO.

Also, high turnover is a bad look. Other potential candidates down the road wonder why the turnover? "Why doesn't anyone want to stay in Pullman?" It eventually hurts the pool of candidates.

Look at our history, prior to Price.

I think it'll be

Harsin
Rolovich
Grinch
And I throw in the name that I said earlier, Brennan.

Braindead,

Is this even confirmed?

The "so and so" doesn't like Pullman always seems like wild speculation to me — especially when there's so much to like about the place.

Or was it a scorned lover rumor? I guess after a bunch of posters say it's true...it becomes a fact.

What Rolovich did at Hawaii was friggen miracle. !0 wins....amazing. Brennan with an even better staff. He has a staff at Sn Jose State and coaches must like him.

4. Steve Spurrier, Jr.
5. Pat Chun's decision. Chun knows what he's doing.

Harsin has to be taken off the list. He only went with 9 assistants this year. I read on the internet that that makes him stupid:) I'd love to see him bring Jeff Schmedding in as DC.

Jeff Banks at Alabama. A Coug. SEC experience. Hell of a recruiter.
Ooh interesting. He was assistant HC along with ST at TAMU before moving on to Bama. Coached TAMU in bowl game after their HC left (Sumlin?). He is a really good recruiter, and is a Coug so perhaps wouldn’t be quickly lured away if he had success. Hadn’t thought of that one. Would be huge jump for him but would probably be a relatively inexpensive HC hire at first, and could up the budget so he could get some quality coordinators.
