Predictions we are used to

Didn’t they have a write up a couple of years ago in one of these where they had our starting QB as someone who had already transferred or graduated or something? Maybe was a different publication but yeah national sports media has zero clue what’s happening in the west.

You can always count on Si to rank WSU near the bottom

SI PAC 12 Football preseason ranking

The best part of the whole article is where they say the following about Stanford: "This can still be a physical team — one that beat No. 3 Stanford a year ago" It's a pretty impressive accomplishment to beat yourself. It's obvious that no one with any journalistic ability (or sports knowledge) was involved in the writing of the article.

A matter of taste. The '88 swimsuit edition was very nice. But I liked the 25th anniversary in '89 just as well.

Why do you disagree?

I'm not optimistic about this season. Average D, at best. Rebuilding OL, new QB, new OC, marginal RB, average at WR. Serious roster turnover. Lots of new coaches.
Gib, I guess I have more optimism this year than average, but I also have some reasons for that optimism:

- Our D was good last year and looks to be better this year; you termed them average, and that might be fair for last season as a whole. But I'd argue that the D improved as the year went on and finished the last 1/3 of the season well above average. This year, we look to have the best DB depth we've had in a long time; two good transfers that came with the DC who look to fill areas of need; and a developing group of edge rushers that should improve the pass rush. DT will be no worse than last year and might be better. All in all, I'm thinking we end up somewhere between 4th-6th in the league in overall D. Not the top, but above the median. And if we continue to generate takeaways, we might be well above the median.
- New O system with a lot of new coaches, as you point out. However, the O transition for the existing troops looks like it will be pretty easy, as such changes go, compared to what we've done for the past 3 years. I like what I've seen from the new OC. I'm eager to find out how he integrates a TE into his version of the air raid. Ultimately, it seems like all versions of the air raid live or die based on execution and QB completion rate (which of course are somewhat related). Having a QB who has worked with the OC before is obviously a big deal in that respect.
- I'm still trying to learn & understand how the portal and these sorts of coach/player packaged transfers (both our DC and our OC came with some key players) work, and what they mean to the immediate success of the team. We certainly seem to be well ahead of the curve compared to a "normal" transition to a new bunch of coaches teaching a new system, though.
- Finally, I think Dickert made a good choice when he opted to not act as his own DC or OC. A good HC has too many things to manage to be able to be a coordinator, or even a de facto coordinator. I always felt that was Leach's biggest Achilles heel...he was so wrapped up running the offense, he let too many HC things go to his chief of staff or simply blew them off, and he was far too disconnected from his D or special teams. We will have to see how our new HC adapts to running a program that has both a strong DC and a strong OC, but at this point I'm optimistic. I especially hope that with Dickert not directly running the day to day of either the O or the D, that special teams will get enough attention to be an asset. Too often in the past the special teams units have underperformed due to gross neglect. I have hopes that this will not be the case this fall.

Long story short, I think we are realistically about the 5th-6th best team in the league (very similar to a couple of others), and with our favorable schedule we might manage to be 4th best in the league. If some of the other teams who are of similar capability to ourselves go through some problems of their own, then we might do better than that. We appear to have more upside than downside, and while we have a lot of new coaches, the key ones are proven. I'm looking for a good year!

I would agree

I agree, I think the defense has the potential to be better, on the offensive side is where the issues are.

Biggest concern is the O line, then RB, and then WR, however I do believe we have upgraded at QB, and a good QB can make the O line, the RB's and WR better, Look what Minshew did. A team, in 2018, that many felt was average or better went 11-2. I think the RB's may surprise us, I'll get a better feel for that after spring ball, and the depth at WR is good, with several players coming back that looked very promising last year. This is a 7 win team with the potential to do much better, depends on how all the pieces fall into place. I think Dickert is well prepared and organized, and won't beat himself.

Are they women or did they just identify as women?

Ed...?
Well “Ed’s in my Head”… not sure I Have much to add. Never saw any of the swimsuit sports illustrated . Never was my thing. I personally preferred to go to the “Dunes” when I was in college. Greenlake and Lake Washington as I got older. Now go out on the boat or hang by the pool to see the real thing …, the 3d version .

I am not holier than tho, just preferred live that is all.

Let me know what other opinions you would like me to send out your way .

You must be a biologist.

You mean like how much Trump is in yo' head? 🤣

Whoooosh...the sound of that going over your head. Haha!
Hey “How_Eds_in_my_head…I would think some would learn . Apparently not. No “swoosh” except over your head, again. Why would I engage in a sports illustrated swim issue topic which you somehow wanted to bring in my opinion on transgender issues? The only one who is either bothered or cares about what I think is you. Frankly it is a borderline obsession.

So like several times before I ignored your totally out of place comment that had nothing to do with the subject matter and talked about the issue which was brought up… this case the swimsuit issues.

I thought I have been clear on the issue … not high on my priority list . I can think of many other issues that are foremost on my mind . Lia Thomas and the other 100 transgender boys to girls in the US who are making it unfair for some kids in sports is not one of them . Again the issue isn’t even in my top ten .

Ed...I don't care. Just ignore my posts if you want.

Let's all remember that you can't define what a woman is. That is truly pathetic.

Have a nice day.

Oh”Ed in your head”… clearly you don’t care.

What is pathetic is someone who agreed to something, didn’t do it as part of his negotiation , then wants me to answer the question what constitutes a man and woman . Which I would have gladly done if you had lived up to your end of the bargain.

Again, that issue so not on my radar and how you think it is normal to bring in a discussion about Kathy Ireland is beyond strange . But this world is made up of all types of people.

I lived up to my end of the discussion Mr. "Trump is in my head."

You are too ashamed to define a woman. That is the reason you don't.

Yes...this world is made up off all kinds of people...including moral preeners who represent a new religion (wokeness) to assuage their guilt of being white and affluent.

Oh "ed oh_in_your_head"...I have zero reservation about giving my definition of a woman. I have three in my household this summer. And the way the pup squats maybe a 4th. You failed to live up to your end of the bargain.

But since this is a hot button, I will give you a pretty close take...watch Bill Maher episode in which his closing argument is about changing gender. I am not too far off from his views. But unlike you, it is not something on my radar.

I always wondered why it is necessary for ar 15 and other semi automatic weapons. Some people simply have a bad aim. Funny line which probably applies to you and your woke take comes from Lee Harvey in "Me Myself and Irene" when he asks the police officer..."is your old lady happy?"

Since you have called me woke, should I put two and two together when I am woke because of what you think my skin color is and also my bank account.

Just like when I didn't reply to you on a Saturday, you could think only in your black and white world I was scared to respond and couldn't imagine other reasons, like for example I went out for dinner with friends on a Saturday night.

You can't think why people would be "woke" except for the white color of what you think is our skin and guilt? Ever occur to you I am not white, or my family isn't white or a combination therefor? Or as a citizen of this country I have seen discrimination in 2021? Personally I have seen it. Does that ever register.

Or that in 2000 gay rights was such a big deal on the platform, and probably cost Al Gore the presidency, and moving forward we couldn't give gay couples equal rights because of the moral decay? My best clients for a variety of reasons are gay. And weird, they haven't tried to get me on their team, tried to get get down my parents, or showed a gross misconduct of behavior.

Then we have those with the moral clarity and the high visible position to preach from. Falwell...likes to watch his wife bang a 22 year old. Trump, brags about grabbing woman by the pu$$ys. Yep.. I get whole moral argument from 2000. So with that being an issue of 2000, and we seemed to have survived it, not sure why the transgender issue would be high on my priority list. But I digress.

Yes, some people DO have bad aim, especially when they are in a high stress situation. Like when you need to use a firearm to protect your life, loved ones, and property. Couple examples for you. 2-3 years ago there was a guy that fired a gun in Coeur d'Alene, think it was on July 4th. Multiple cops engaged him, firing more than a dozen shots, IIRC. Out of the highly trained that shot at the guy with a gun, there was ONE hit. My best friend was a police officer in western WA, and was involved in a shooting with armed bad guy. several shots were fired at bad guy with officers on the scene, and his was the only hit. When your adrenalin kicks in it affects your aim. So if a person has a firearm for personal protection, doesn't it make sense to have a weapon that allows you to keep firing if you miss at first? Or maybe everyone should be limited to single shot black powder weapons like in the old days?

Stretch you probably wouldn’t like my take on guns as not sure prayers to the family from me to those families of mass shootings carry a ton of weight .

What I would say is liberals have it all wrong . If you live in Chicago , Seattle and places in between and you are 18, all minority groups should join the nra and buy as many ar 15 as humanly possible . You turn 18 get yourself something you can defend yourself with . At this point seems like the most sound strategy. Maybe even lower the age to 16 . You never know what the situation will be once you get out on the road.

And maybe arming teachers they will have more courage than the police who didn’t do anything for a good period of time in Uvlade … and they had semi auto weapons at their disposal .

Depends what their backstop is, and what they’re hitting every time they miss.

The other thing that happens when adrenaline kicks in is a lot of people get tunnel vision. They don’t even realize what’s behind what they’re shooting at, and what collateral damage they create. In those cases, no…I’d rather they had fewer shots, shorter range, and lower velocity. And if they’re claiming it’s for “personal protection,” it doesn’t need to be an AR.

Go and buy ARs. Make sure it’s a 308 platform. The 556 isnt big enough.

Why?

Aliens. There was an open committee meeting on UFOs. The government has literally admitted it. While we all argue over whatever the hot topic is currently, the aliens are here. More are coming. Be ready.

Planetary defense is a new angle. Interesting.

But my guess is they came, took a look around, and decided they didn’t want this planet.

Next season on Earth!!! Just when the virus ends, WW3!!!

Actually, most of them do now, or so it would seem. The sheer amount of grammatical errors, typos, syntax errors, etc I see from "professional publications" is astounding. I mean Word has an editor, at least give it a look before hitting "publish".

I don’t remember what publication it was in, but I had to laugh at a recent article that was titled (with their exact spelling) “Study shows social media linked to declines in grammer skills.”

To quote the snooty (snotty) waiter in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: “I weep for the future.”
