I suspect Baumgartner to be involved as well.

Politics aside, any Cougar fan or college sports fan should welcome the reform. WSU can't compete in this NIL pay to play era, so any guardrails from the Feds would be welcome news.

The devil is in the details, but as you infer, ttown, it could hardly be worse for us as it stands. That's not to say that some way won't be found to make it worse, but on balance it appears that any guardrails at all would be an improvement.

This guy is co-chair. He's saying we need to protect the smaller schools and not let the power 2 run away with this. He's 100% right.

More on Cody Campbell. He's the billionaire Texas Tech grad that played for Leach.

"The fix isn’t rocket science: Pay athletes what’s fair, but don’t let the rich programs get richer by creating a monopoly on the revenue sports. Force transparency and promote competitive parity and greater media exposure for all. Keep the necessary funding flowing to the swimmers, the wrestlers, the dreamers at the smaller and less-recognized colleges, the kids who make this messy, beautiful system worth saving. "

Here's his full op ed:

Why would schools pay kids at all? Want NIL $$? Sure thing. Hire an agent and go get it. Want some of our tv $$$? Pound fcking sand.

The fix is simple. Roster limits. Spread the talent.

So, we're creating a commission to study what everyone already knows, who will make recommendations that are unenforceable without legislative action....which will only come after the industry lobbyists have reached their congressmen and made the changes to it that they want, so that in the end nothing really happens except that now congress is cut in on the profits?

Gibby is correct, that this House vs. NCAA lawsuit - which is about to get approved - required revenue sharing to begin in July of this year.

In addition to revenue sharing, the NCAA will have an NIL clearinghouse and enforcement arm. Deloitte is running the clearinghouse to confirm fair market of NIL deals.

Like it or not, we need the Federal government to put legislation in place to keep these endless lawsuits from happening. It is rumored that the second this House vs. NCAA lawsuit and framework is established, the vultures are going to file anti-trust suits against the NCAA claiming they can't legally put market caps on NIL deals. (I personally agree with the vultures in this instance). The only way to get this under control is federal legislation, giving the NCAA and their schools protection from anti-trust, allowing the schools to legally define that student athletes aren't employees (remember some athletes want to form a Union) and allowing this framework to work in a way that the courts aren't creating the rules.

You should scribe this wisdom on a big poster board and tack it onto the giant front door of the NCAA temple.

The dumbest of Americans will believe anything he says. Just look at how many have bought his crypto tokens! lol
1. Proclaim you’re going to do something that’s “never been done”

2. Fail

3. Reset the bar, in most cases lower than where it started

4. Proclaim a glorious victory!

5. Rinse and repeat

Hook, line, sinker. Good grief they are gullible F’n morons.

Nevermind that the supply chain has already been fcked up so bad people are being laid off. But if you work for Taco Bell all is good.

Cant wait to see the details of the new trade deal.

Not to post political, as I promised I would not. However, what really drives me nuts is that damn near everything out of his mouth is "the greatest in history", or the "worst in history" or some similar shit. Always roundly debunked, but no matter. Keep saying the same lie again and again and it becomes fact.

Jaime Dimon’s happy. That’s all that really matters isn’t it?

I laughed out loud at the comments a couple days ago about increasing taxes on the rich. It’s a comment that his base will love, but there’s zero chance he’ll do it. It’s 100% for show, and they eat it up.

I mean, you could just say thanks.
For what? Getting punked by China and making an announcement about an EO that doesn’t even live within the parameters of presidential EOs? The dead guy could have done both of these.

Once again he brags about something that has zero substance and you believe it 😂. 🤡

You’re a lot older than me and presumably on some prescription meds, get back to me when those prices drop 80% or whatever F’n bullshit he fed you. I’ll wait.
