Still a lot of time this year, but with what I’ve seen out of Rolo and team in the first few games I’m excited to see what he can do with a normal year. Get some time under the youngsters and develop a few more D lineman etc. Seems like we could have a defense unlike anything we’ve seen in many years.

Like Leach, he has to get his type of players in the system and get the team to know the system inside and out. I suspect that defensive recruiting will be a higher priority for this staff.

I dont buy the idea that defensive recruiting wasnt a priority. I think it has been and always will be for Leach. I think he struggles to find a brand of defense to go with his brand name offense.
I think the bigger issue was having a pig farmer from Iowa lookin’ DC that didnt connect well with West Coast kids. And generally having shit assistant coaches as we can all see from the difference in coaching between the egg they laid against AF last year to the two games they've played this year.
Those f$cking turd defensive coaches last year stole their money and Chun should be sending them all invoices or to collections to get the $ back.

Need a few more difference makers on D. Need to put 10 more lbs on Travion Brown and put him at edge and let him use his speed. If we are running Moon Ashby at 205 lbs out there then put 82 in instead. Pladson and Rodgers aren't Pac 12 linebackers. Woods is a stud. Need some JC dts. Like Watson and Smith-Wade.
Going forward, the question about defensive recruiting will be moot, since the D staff as a whole appears to be every bit as good from a recruiting standpoint as the O staff.
I hope Travion is allowed to use his speed at LB. Guy is able to defend sideline to sideline. Seems a waste of his gifts to use him as an undersized edge.
Injuries are hitting at DE.
Depending on how the tweener types (Sheetz, Garay-Harris, etc.) are developing, I don't think we need a JC at DT. One good enough to play will be very difficult to find.
we've already offered like 3 JC dts so that is telling. I'm saying if Brown isnt ready to contribute at lb for whatever reason then put him in at edge. He is too athletic and fast to be not playing.
