According to the SR, the jobs still open. Is that just to keep Potter out of the portal or does he have a legit shot and or Zevi is struggling?

I used to watch recruiting videos but haven’t been wasting brain space on that lately. Can Potter play? If he can, I understand why you wouldn’t want to showcase that for the portal vultures on a televised scrimmage.

Probably a bit of both. You want your guys pressing over the summer to be the best they can be. Probably 95% Zevi though considering how well he played in the bowl game and leading the team through a difficult situation.

I'll opine here. I didn't like Dick-erp bringing in Zevi to begin with, but he hung with us. It's his last year, he has proven himself on and off the field. Just make him QB1 and quit with the "job is still open" crap. Let the others fight it out for QB2.

I think the competition aspect is good for motivation all summer but if he’s the guy, give home the job early in camp and get him all the 1st team reps.

Every other job is still open. Might as well set the QB and work on something else.

Then again, I can see the value in waiting until the transfer window closes again.

“The job isn’t just straight up Zevi’s. That’s part of this,” Rogers said. “There’s gonna be competition, and there’s gonna be more competition coming in this summer.”

As he works to integrate 32 newcomers, Rogers didn’t expand on what that incoming competition might look like, but he seemed to indicate he’s looking to add a transfer quarterback before fall camp, perhaps before long. The spring transfer window closes on April 25, but players have no deadlines to sign with new teams, so Rogers and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Danny Freund can take their time with their decisions.

Sounds like the staff is preaching competition to me. Not sure who we could bring in that would have a realistic shot at starting, but who knows. Maybe the guy from Tennessee needs a home. And "coming in this summer" could mean the freshmen.

I'm assuming we are looking for more than another QB but it seems like we have more pressing needs at other positions groups.

So here's my take. Yes let's not make Zevi #1, which could lead to HIM jumping into the portal again and leaving. If CJR thinks he needs to bring in a transfer to compete with our 5th (or 6th?) year proven Senior QB then he is dumber than I thought.

I'm guessing that any transfer QB that we are bringing in at this point is a 2026 QB....not 2025.
