Not that it means anything, but if projected out Cougs would be ranked 31 in AP rankings right behind UCLA (29) and Arizona (30). USC (14) and ASU (20) are the only Pac-12 schools in top 25.

Quite an improvement from 200 th something to 31 in the land! But it is a long tough season with much tougher PAC 12 opponents ahead. SDSU is a good mid major team which would get eaten alive in the PAC 12. The cougars need to continue to improve and i think that they will. Drick,Milan, Hinton, and Chidom will continue to improve as the season moves on.They are capable of playing much better which will be needed.

We still need to get better in transition D and cut down the careless turnovers. Those thing can be fixed when you have long athletic guys on the floor like we do.

I decided to look around today at the threads on St. Mary's, SDSU, and one on a GU site. Collectively they believe we blow chunks and won't compete in the Pac 12. It's going to take time to earn respect but this is a good team and much better than I anticipated.

What I found interesting watching the game last night apart from how good we looked was every time SDSU started to get up it seemed like their players and fans thought it was over. Finally we put these guys away that have no business playing with us anyway. Then we would of course come back. While I think SDSU/St. Mary's might have been more "talented" (whatever that means) we were clearly the better team, made better decisions, and played with more energy, toughness, and as a team.

As Yaki brought up about Skaggs in another thread this team is starting to remind me a bit of those GU teams of the early Cinderella days. A bunch of gritty guys that play together where the sum of the whole is greater than the parts. Flynn is so clutch, Franks killing teams inside/out, guys picking each other up off the floor, Bernstine/Pollard forming a nice post tandem. Flynn and Franks have led but it's been someone new each night that has stepped up and had a big game. You watch the bench and they all seem in it no matter who is making a big play or that they are sitting watching it. It's simply been a lot of fun to watch.

It's early but props to ElC and Ava among others. You deserve your "I told you so".

It sounds like there are some sour grapes by the Sr Marys and SDSU fans. They got their asses handed to them and they do not like it. The cougs clearly have more talent than those guys and will improve more as the season progresses as this is a young team. There maybe some hiccups along the way but the team will rebound and play harder when they do lose.

I do see potential for continued improvement as we play more together. I don't think most of the players on what now looks like a deep team have reached their ceiling even for this year.

I don't know think we will see it this year, but Chidum could be another Franks down the road. I think Acquaah will make strides this season

I was excited to see what Chidom could do this year but he's exceeded my expectations. He doesn't have an issue asserting himself but it's been impressive to see him adjust a bit and take better shots.

Acquaah just needs more experience and now to adjust to the scout. He tries to do too much but has the ability to make plays in the lane and defend that we really need on the floor. That final foul was a bad call especially when he was fouled on the other end and didn't get an and-1 call.

That was what got me. He got hammered going to the hoop, then gets called on a phantom touch at the other end. Officiating was pretty ragged the whole game

The officiating was really bad vs SDSU. Some real headscratchers. The one where the ball was clearly knocked out of Pollards hands out of bounds....the refs even went to the monitor and still got the call wrong. Unreal.

Amazing improvement on the defensive end of the court. Far as I can tell everyone is playing some defense which has certainly not been the case for the last three years.

Both St. Marys and SDSU were nice road wins.

D has to be better with more length and athleticism, especially up front

It is great to see people talking basketball rather than moaning and groaning and expect a total of 8 wins this season
