Ray Kasongo, a 6'9 230 pd PF, will be transferring from the U of Tennessee He averaged less than 2 pts and 2 rbs per game in 5 minutes of play this past season. He originally verballed to Oregon in 2014 but was denied admission . He attended juco in Idaho and went to Tenn for the 2015-2016 season. He averaged 6 pts and 4.9 rbs in 15 minutes of playing time in the juco ranks. He is being recruited by the cougs and will visit soon.

Would definitely add muscle and size to the front court and out of high school he was considered to be very athletic. Would have to sit next year but I'd be happy with his signing!

Yes he was highly recruited as a prepster. He has several colleges after him this year. Last year he was the 36th ranked juco. Conner Clifford was rated at 40th last year to add some perspective. He has three years to play two

Ray Kasongo would be a major pickup by the Cougars.

From his preps reputation, yes; from anything after, it's difficult to get excited, but here's hoping he's better than what we've seen in Pullman the last several years.

He has attracted considerable interest Teams like USC,Seton Hall, UNLV, SDSU, Wash , WSU, and others are after him His prep career and athleticism make him very attractive to teams. He has a wide choice and the coug s chances of landing are uncertain.

Ray Kasongo will decide next week. UConn and SDSU and others pushing hard at the moment. I do not know if WSU is still in the mix.

The Canadian sites are usually right. They keep track of all the Canadian players. Oh well move on to the next player. One wonders who are the other players now being recruited

Just watched a kid play Collin Welp (son of UW Christian Welp). Word around the gym is he is getting interest from WSU. Looked pretty good in kind of a rat ball situation, moves well, finishes well. About 6-8 with good build i'd say 220ish. Looked up a video on line and I think he is a little ahead of Pollard at the same stage (based on watching him at elite camp). I'm hoping a year at prep school has improved Pollard into a contributor. Welp is a 2017 recruit.

Welp has great hands and sneaky moves. He also has a good mid range jump shot. He is nowhere as athletic as Pollard. Pollard runs the court very well and plays much better defense. Pollard has grown to 6'9 235 and developed a very good mid range jump shot. He will get his minutes this coming season

Yea I would agree Pollard is more athletic, since I last saw him play he has had a year of high school ball and a year of prep school ball so I'm sure he has improved his game considerably. I would have said he would see sparse minutes as a freshman but with the departure of Izundu his role will be significantly increased.

Some how I missed the fact that Christian Welp died last year. R.I.P.

Pollard sounds very intriguing. With the three new guards and Pollard on board, and Ken's opportunity to fill the remaining slots (2?), there's at least something encouraging happening, or so one would hope.

I believe that the cougs have already offerred Welp.I did not know that his father has died. That is sad for a young man to lose his father at such a young age.

Pollard is not a spectacular player or jumper. He is not a great shot blocker. He plays defense by trying ball denial and tries stop the opposing player from establishing himself in the post. He will bump and grind using his body and dives for loose balls .He is the kind of player that offensive players hate to play against. The fans will love his hustle and scrappy play..
