She is solid....great get. Seeing the W.F West gym, brought back some good memories. Witnessed some great basketball in that building.
I’ve not seen her play in person and trust that Etheridge sees her skills beyond the level of competition as it is minimal in that conference.
June had the player from Elma, Brandi Thomas, that was a moderate contributor a few years ago. Looking forward to watching her @ the next level.

Assuming you weren’t around in the mid-70’s as Chehalis was not so good.

Attended Centralia 79-82. Detlef, Roberts, Lucier was the basketball I was referring to in my post. Watched Jay Roberts (Atlanta Braves/UW) and Ron Holmes (Timberline/UW/Denver Broncos) have a couple of great battles on that W.F West court.

Jay Roberts was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 1st round after playing 1 game his Senior year?

Nice find on the ChopCountry post. Had to laugh as I was refenced in it. Jay didn't play baseball his Sr. Year. He participated in track and went to state in 4 events. He had signed his letter of intent to go to UW. He decided to play legion baseball the Summer after his senior year. He only played a couple games that Summer. One weekend afternoon the American Legion team was playing the Sr. Babe Ruth team at Fort Borst and 20 scouts were in the stands. Roberts put on a display that day. Hit a home run with a wood bat that traveled 500 ft. Was clocked at 93mph from the mound, I don't think he threw a strike in his 2/3 of a inning. Crushed a double against the wall and while running to second his cleats threw up a 10 foot rooster tail Chip Hanauer would have been proud of (Jay was 6'4 225 and ran a legit 4.5 40). Threw out a runner from right field going to third...an Ichiro like laser. Lots of oohing and aahing from the MLB scouts that day.

Later that year the Braves selected him with the 12 pick in the 1st round. Side note: In the 1981 MLB draft John Elway was picked by the Yankees early in the 2nd round and Jack Del Rio was picked in the 22 round.

Jay was a world class knucklehead. He spun his wheels in A ball for 3 years (couldn't hit a curve ball) then told Hank Aaron who was on the field one day giving him hitting advice to Eff Off. Ted Turner released him the next day. He called Don James asked for his scholarship back and played a few years at the UW before he was accused of rape (long story) later acquitted but was cut loose by the UW.

Jay should have been the MVP of the state tourney that year in basketball. They gave it to Detlef. He was a scratch golfer, saw him damn near bowl a 300 game, could have had a 15 year NFL career as a punter. Was a great hooper and brought thunderous dunks (36 inch vertical) Hands down the best athlete I have ever (personally) known.

Oh and that 65k signing bonus. He spent half of it on a new Trans AM, complete with "BRAVES" vanity plate. He rolled it a week later (no insurance). Did I mention he was a knucklehead. He died in a car crash 9/26/98. I miss the guy. He had his warts but was a good friend. You ALWAYS wanted him on your side especially if/when hands were thrown.

Colfax is loaded. Cougs would be wise to keep an eye on the freshman - 25 points, 18 rebounds. Good kid, too.

Oregon and Idaho have already made contact.
They have a senior going to Central. I was really surprised she didn’t land somewhere better. Playing HS ball in June last year probably didn’t help her cause.

Step slow.

Gonzaga was in the stands yesterday, too.
