If I heard Chun right, they want some assistants in place by mid-week. That means people who either aren’t doing anything now (retirees) or are so anxious to get back that they’ll drop what they’re doing.

Who’s on that list? Is this Gesser’s path back to good graces? Bledsoe? Jack Thompson?

I’m just not sure who’s going to be sitting by the phone.

But Pat, if you read this…I’ll take the job. I’ll work for a lot less than $3M, I just don’t want to talk to the press.

Pass over the old white males like Biden passed on Inslee for the cabinet.

June Jones as offensive consultant? It looked like he was trying to back stab Rolo but it’s possible he was just trying to look out for his friend. Would Rolo endorse him?

This is a tough one. Jones would make sense I suppose but anyone you bring in as a new assistant at this point in the season isn’t going to have any credibility with the players. Any seniors who are out for the year who are aspiring coaches? If so, make them GAs basically and promote your current GAs to assistant spots.

I was looking at the online roster from the WSU athletics site (which hasn't been updated to reflect the firings) and there are a few in-house options. If Dickert can't/doesn't retain DC responsibilities, safeties coach Mark Banker has DC experience with Mike Riley at OSU & Nebraska. That's an easy one to fill. Dickert was also handling LBs along with his DC role, but will probably have to fill that responsibility with someone else. Cooper is still around to take the Edges, but Logo needs to be replaced for the DTs. Stanley Franks is a defensive quality control specialist & has assistant coach experience at Idaho State & the CFL. He could be moved up to take Richardson's spot with the DBs. Offense is a bigger challenge. Dan Ferrigno has been an offensive analyst & has been a longtime assistant seemingly everywhere, including Michigan, USC, UO, and OSU. He could be moved up for some role. Brian Smith is still around as the OC and, unfortunately, may have to go back to calling the plays with Stutzman gone.

I don't know enough about the capabilities of the other GAs and quality control guys, but there could be 1-2 more than might be moved up.

Glad Cougar

Im guessing everyone gets bumped up. Hiring new guys mid season? It’s gotta be the right guy.
