It still amazes me that both Rivals and Scout have him as a two star. Not that I really care, but I do find it interesting. But, the guy is good athlete starring at both football and basketball. He is mobile with a good arm. What are they not seeing?Sounds good doesn't it? I was hoping he'd commit after watching his film the first time.

Honestly thought, most QB's at the high school level have bad mechanics. Heck, most at the college level have bad mechanics. You could be right about the reason though. His mechanics. He does a weird lifting of his foot thing when he throws the deep ball and he's a little stiff / clumsy with his throwing motion (could be because he's 6'6 and growing into his body).
A redshirt year of mechanics work and with Harell and he'll be good, but that's why he's not rated highly. He get his mechanics polished to where his footwork is in sync with a sharp throwing motion and he could destroy people. Right now it's a rough model, but the potential is clear.

I haven't evaluated many QB's, but I would guess he is likely a better athlete than most QB's.
One think that I believe is important is that Hall Mumme personally worked with him. You know they talked in detail about him, then Leach has a better scouting report on Brewer than anyone from Scout or Rivals. Plus, if Mumme would have thought it his mechanics were an issue, he would have corrected them.
Yes, I agree. As I have written, I am much more excited about him that I was with Book. Book kind of reminded me of former Arizona QB 4 star recruit (and bust) Nic Costa.Yeah I don't disagree with anything you are saying. We know all of this to be true, but the scout/rivals people are only looking at the tape and offer list. He doesn't have a lot of offers and his tape shows some mechanic issues. So they look at it and give him a couple stars. The more work he gets to polish his technique the better and better and better he will be. His upside is tremendous and we aren't bringing him in to start right away. He's a guy who will learn and get better, and by his Junior/Senior season could just shred people.

Everything else, I agree wholehardedly. I think he is a sleeping giant in the Ben Roethlisberger mold. Just think, at around 225 lbs, he is already much bigger than Halliday. I think by the time he sees the field, he will be around 240.
Kind of big for a QB? That reminds me of that clip when Luck was at Stanford, he (or the running back) fumbled the ball. When the defenseman went for it Luck absolutely DESTROYED him. Hell of a hit for a QB.
It rivals the Largent hit.
Okay....but he didn't knock the ball out, so big deal.It rivals the Largent hit.
