Ernie Kent was in Richland this week to watch Riley work out. I guess the cougs are still pursuing Sorn . The big guy is all about potential and the cougs are interested in the big man who needs weight and strength to succeed at the D 1 level

Have the Cougs officially offered or just checking him out?

There is a nice photo on Riley s twitter page showing him with Coach Kent,Coach Allen and his HS coach. One hopes that the Sorn family 's closeness encourages Riley to stay home. His sister is dating a former coug OL commit who went to a juco.Perhaps the three of them will all end up in Pullman.Riley is one tall human being with a lot of potential

Ernies put in some effort. I saw him in the Spokane airport flying someplace early this morning.

I generally agree with your statement. However if a big man can run the court well,i generally give him a good chance to succeed. Riley does a good job of running the court and keeping up with play on both ends. His high school team is a running team and he had to learn how to fit in with their style of play. On the plus side,he also has good timing on his blocks. So i give him a good chance and he is worth the risk. He is basically a local guy and fans will support him.He is much further along than Jame Donaldson at the same stage , but he lacks Donaldson s huge frame and bulk.So i say sign him up,Ernie.

I would be happy if Sorn and lufile will commit. The class would then have Elleby,Sorn, and Lufile and i would call it a day. They can then concentrate on 2019. It seems like many colleges are offering players from 2019,2020 and even 2022 at this early date.I think it is crazy but many top colleges are now doing it.

That would be pretty good. The more I think about it, you have to take Sorn if he is available

Supposedly Riley has grown to 7'4. I watched tapes of his play with the Washington Supremes a AAU team, and he upped his play against much better competition. during the summer. When he stops growing and adds some strength,he will continue to improve. His family is athletic and he should soon grow into his body.

Yes, I was going to add that point. So much potential for a kid with almost transcendent size

His running stuck out to me, seems to have some touch, and intelligent. If he has plus work-ethic that's a really good base.

Yes if he adds weight and more importantly strength and stamina . With what is going on today in college basketball. a thumbs to Coach Kent and staff for seemingly trying to do it the right way. Fans wanted 5 star recruits but in no way do i want them if it compromises the Schools integrity and honor.I will take the local kid with much promise and a true student-athlete

The big fellah needs to come to Pullman. Pullman with its true college town, nutritional program and training facilities will help him achieve both academically and athletically.

From what I hear he wasn't to impressed with the visit and Kent's game was off. St Mary's seems the flavor of the month but I don't think he is in a hurry.

Academically ,he will be far better off in WSU.s Engineering Program. When he makes an official visit,he will be impressed. with the school, athletic facilities and campus life. The only other college ,currently, recruiting him ,with an top engineering program is Colorado,The program needs to hone in on the academic programs and the closeness to his family and home. The academic and athletic success of someone like Hawkinson may serve as an example of what is possible at WSU.

Wasn't his Engineering interest is something like aerospace that we don't have?

You may be right.I am not sure how that works out in the field of engineering ,as that is "all Greek" to me.Perhaps someone with an engineering degree can weigh in on this. I am not sure how interested Colorado really is. They only have one scholarship left and Sorn is not listed on their recruiting board. They had their best recruiting class ever in 2017 and these players are expected to form the basis for the nest 2-3 years.A player should go where they are wanted and needed. One will guess that a person like Sorn will end up in a graduate program after his undergraduate days.
