This probably won't be popular, but I found myself rooting for CU. Who knows how the rest of the season goes for them, but you gotta' give them credit. They played a full game on the road against TCU. They were organized and played mostly error free. Sanders (QB) is legit, Hunter was great both ways, Edwards with the breakout, defense stood up when they had to.
That's where I landed on being the underdog. I was interested to see how they looked, and as an underdog they were easy to root for basically from the opening kickoff.Yeah. I had no problem with them winning. I usually want the underdog though. I'm a Wazzu fan, after all.
Go Boise State!
I was surprised. Amy time you have that much roster turnover, and learning a new system, it generally takes time.
I don’t disagree, but they’re playing by the rules (that we know of). Obviously CFB isn’t the same, the crazy moment for me yesterday was during the CU/TCU game when they switched to commercial and there’s Deion on commercials for two different products. It’s definitely a different model and he’s going to have no problem getting HS kids and portal transfers on his hype train.Colorado represents everything that has gone wrong with college football. That’s why I’ll root against them every week.
Plus, their coach is an egomaniacal ass.
How soon is he off to the SEC? Will Bama want him if Saban retires? And don’t count that out, I think Nick’s pretty frustrated with the NIL and transfer portal and may just decide to Peace Out.I don’t disagree, but they’re playing by the rules (that we know of). Yes. He’s the hottest coach in CFB after yesterday. Any SEC school would have him at the top of their list for an opening. How soon is he off to the SEC? Will Bama want him if Saban retires? What will he do? Who knows I doubt he’s going anywhere w his kids there I think they’d have to sit out a year if they portaled again right? I don’t think he has any loyalty or shame though and has made it clear it’s all about that bag. If Saban retires and Alabama offers him $15 mil he’s gone.
FoulBut Biggs hates Sanders because he doesn't coach the white way.
I’m not saying he’s MY favorite coach. Just stating facts, this is how this business works. He already was a shiny object, now he’s the shiniest, and don’t think for a second he wouldn’t be at the top of everyone’s list TODAY. Yes, TCU could be a 5-7 team this year, no Colorado is not likely to win the P12. It’s still impressive to win a game like that with that much roster turnover in a matter of months for a 1-11 team a year ago. His hype train just grew too, so he will continue to recruit…think of the talent he could bring in with Alabama or LSU level notoriety and resources.I think that we shouldn't get too carried away just yet. It was one game against a team that lost a lot of players from last year's surprising team. True that no one expected Colorado to win, but let's see how they do over the next few games.
He surprised me with the win to be sure, but that was just one game against a coach fired by freakin' Cal not so long ago.

At this point we don't know how good TCU is. Sure, they were very good last year. But this year?
Both teams seemed to have offenses that were much better than their defenses.
Colorado won the game IMHO mostly because they executed well on offense. Again, though, how good is TCU's defense? We'll know more after both teams play a few games.
What I found most compelling about Colorado was their composure. They opened on a hostile field, against a team that should have been very good. Colorado is close to a full rebuild. The composure was big. I have to recognize that was mostly coaching.
Colorado was 1-11 last season and TCU played in the National Championship game. TCU was favored by 20+ and the game was played in Texas. At this point we don't know how good TCU is. Sure, they were very good last year. But this year?

Not sure it really matters. This kind of roster overhaul and 1-11 team last year should have no business running with even a mid level B12 team let alone beating them. Are they getting WAY too much hype right now? Sure. They aren’t gonna win the conference. But our own resident experts have said sanders is a POS who will never succeed, which looks pretty laughable at this point. He obviously has a formula in place that is working, and he’s going to continue to pull in top talent. At this point we don't know how good TCU is. Sure, they were very good last year. But this year?

Top 10 might be a little frothy, but you have to figure higher than the 2023 class that was ranked #31.Colorado was 1-11 last season and TCU played in the National Championship game. TCU was favored by 20+ and the game was played in Texas.
Name me a high school recruit and his family who'll say no to an in-home visit with Prime? He's going to land a top-10 recruiting class this year and have his pick of portal transfers.
I think he's a better gameday coach that he gets credit for, but even if he's not, you can win a lot of games with top-10 recruiting and motivational messaging to players.
Bringing in that many players, and having them prepared to execute at the level they did was a hell of a coaching job. Clemson looked like hot garbage without the roster turnover, and tons of talent (at least talent on paper). Not sure it really matters.
