Satellite Camps

There are Big Ten schools setting up shop down South and running camps. Great way to meet kids, see talent, evaluate talent, etc. I don't know that they're going to leave with the lions share of talent down there but I think they'll start landing a few guys here and there.

Would satellite camps help the Northwest schools? What if Leach and staff could set up a passing camp in Southern Cal? Think the best QB's and WR's in SoCal would show up to see what was cooking in Pullman?

I could have sworn we've been having camps down in CA. I don't have the time to look it up, but I'm sure they have.

I vaguely seem to remember that off-campus camps were disallowed by the old Pac10 at one time. Is that restriction still in place or am I just confused again?

This article has reference to what I remember. They are calling it a "recruiting satellite camp". Don't know if that's what you are referencing or exactly what THEY are doing, but here ya go. They are doing some sort of camps down in CA… 5th paragraph.

Reading the ESPN article, NCAA bylaws prohibit hosting camps outside a 50 mile radius or out of state. HOWEVER, in conferences where not specifically prohibited (ACC, SEC) coaches are allowed to be "guests" at a camp "run" by a HS or small college, without location restrictions.

Regarding our kicker, I don't remember the specifics, but my impression was WSU hosted (was present) at some regional camp and offered. I think BX might have some detail on this.

Clarifying the ability to run the camps. We are doing it per the rules.

Leach commented in his last Brand X interview (the one after the last spring practice) that we would have camps in California. I don't know exactly what kind or what the rules require, but CML directly said that we would have camps there.
