SDSU

Well he's actually an MSU Bulldog, but yeah.....David spent 10 years in Pullman prior to SDSU, so that's fair.
Yeah I interacted with John David quite a few times back in the day. He's a class guy. Paid his dues at WSU, happy to see him succeed at a high level. And his southern accent was pretty funny to listen to in Pullman.

I will say with absolute certainty that the SDSU campus is a much more interesting place to visit than the UCSD campus. Culturally they will align with us pretty well, I think. And they have been spending money over the past decade in all areas (including athletics), as well as having a lot of local San Diego support. They seem to be on the upswing.

Hope we don’t get any early season day games there. They F’d their new stadium. That said hope this happens.
That’s was a little flukey when they played Arizona this year. It’s usually not much hotter than upper 70s in San Diego, even in September.

Explain the stadium comment please? Just curious. Sounds like a pretty cool place, with room for expansion.

Day games early in the season. I think it was last year they had a couple and there’s nothing shaded in the stadium, very few places to find shade in the concourse, and if I remember right they ran out of waters in the stadium too so everyone was miserable and trying to find shade. People were getting heat stroke

Shouldn't be an issue. If they join our league, 90% of their games will be played at night.

Yes

Not a great grand opening

WTF - heatstroke? I thought San Diego was pretty moderate, heat-wise. Haven't been there for 20+ years. And how could it be worse than early season day games in Arizona or the deep South?

It was their grand-opening and it was a hot day.

My experience from traveling down their, is the area where SDSU is a slightly more inland and not as cool as the coastal areas. Not by a lot, but enough, that might not get the ocean cooling that a lot of the San Diego area enjoys.

Pullman in August and September can be suffocating as well. I've had some horrible experiences sitting on the student side for afternoon games in 90+ degree weather.

It was a fluke heat wave. SD is generally mild. Damn near equivalent to Seattle in September.

I've gotten some pretty good tans sitting on the student side. I remember one early hot October game where everybody got sunburned. Me? I just burnished my beautiful brown skin.

Fair enough. Just recall hearing some commentary that they didn’t think it through very well with the design and it could be an issue for early season day games. Maybe was just a perfect storm though. Rare heat wave, doubt they run out of water again…early logistics hiccups etc.

sundress weather was always a good trade off to sweating your balls off in the sweltering heat.

I've seen people hauled out on stretchers in Pullman

If you live in Spokane Alaska has convenient, direct flights to SD. I will definitely be going to some football and basketball games down there.

Pretty cool campus. Took my daughter on a tour in September. The football stadium is 3 miles away, however, down the freeway. They have a train that will take you there from campus, however.

Well in Arizona they play most of their early season games at night. What a concept, freak heat waves aside. And WTF is the design problem with a football stadium? Unless you make it indoors, you have stands that are open to, yep, the sun.

I've seen that too, and not just for heat stroke.
Worst I ever saw was 1972 (?) when we played Utah in first game back in Martin Stadium after the stands were burned down.

I remember it being pretty darn hot in the 1997 opener vs UCLA, broiling in the sun high up in the north stands.

That game against fUCLA epitomized just how soft their program is.

Funny that Butch handles the heat better than Yogi
